Which enclosure to use....

Post by ALT_Apollo »

Hey there,

My first post and already a question.
But first i'll introduce myself. I'm Deen, 23 years young and from the Netherlands.
I'm upgrading my soundsystem in my car, and got some questions.
I bought a Helix H1000 Mono from Nico, and he said that he was active on this phorum, so i joined the club

Now i wanted to know something.

On the Helix H1000 will be playing, a Pioneer TS-W3004SPL woofer.
But i don't know which enclosure i should be making.
I want to participate in DB-Drags, but also want a deep, clear bass.
I know a sealed enclosure is the most safe way for my sub, but it's not so loud.

So what do you guys recommend?

Welcome.

In my experiance after meeting and knowing a fellow forum member on Sb, Dave "crazy dB: Jennings, also known as the loudest man a few years back in the state in which I live in, Indiana.

For SPL only, tune high. Dave's choice is in the 67Hz range. For the good sounding clean n clear bass, tune to around 38-40 Hz. In both cases, ported of course.

Also note each sub will output differently. trial and error is the only true way for what you have.

If you get real serious and have the $$, find out what the vehicle's resonant freq is and tune to about 2-3 dB under that. I have the formula for that somewhere. I'll look for it. Brace, brace, brace, and brace some more. Every dB counts, even tenths. Good luck.
