Need alittle input on my selection.
Ok to start off right now I have a PG R5.0.1 powering a 12" Infinity Perfect 12.1 and infinity components (6.5") all around.
It sounds pretty good but I want to upgrade. I want a 5 ch amp to do it all, I don't do SPL comps so I don't need anything way too crazy.
So now this is what i'm thinking of getting...
PG reactor or a Memphis belle 1300 to power either one or 2 Memphis 12" shallow mount subs.
Right now my infinity components sound pretty good but I might upgrade to exile's (6.5")
So What amp should I get? The belle is 500 and reactor is 700.
Thanks
Oh ya this will be going into a older Saturn sedan if that makes any differance.

Well the first main difference is that the system will be more than the kar...
j/k but I'm not far off.
I like the Reactor but you'd better show her off cus she's a sexy bitch!!!! I think it's a real collectors peice and that saturn BETTER be fast and furious too!!!!!!!!!! Get the theme I'm going for..................??? The kar is a SATURN and you run a REACTOR...........
Post a pic of the kar and of yourself or BAN..........................

You come on a PG-specific forum and ask us to choose between the Reactor, a classic in the PG limited edition legacy and something else?!?
Are you mad?!?

I'm kidding of course but something tells me you'll get the same sentiment, in much less expression from the gang.
I say Reactor even without being familiar with the Belle
And welcome!

Nothing too crazy with my satty... I like to keep it clean.
Here are some older pics...

But anyway... The amp is whats driving me nuts, If I were to get the Reactor it would be mounted upside down to my rear deck lid for sercurity reasons since I did have my system ripped off before... bastards!
I really don't know what to do with this amp thing tho, here's the specs on the sub i'll end up using... the single V/C Sub info
Thanks

The Belle isn't a lady I'd kick out of my kar either......
75 watts x 4 chan. / 300 watts x 1 chan. @ 4 ohms
115 watts x 4 chan. / 600 watts x 1 chan. @ 2 ohms
And she's tall, thin and wearing that little black dress going CAMANDO with 1100 watts x 1 chan. @ 1 Ohm (ONLY CHANNEL 5 IS 1 OHM STABLE!)
She does things yer mother warned you about........
Like make yer eardrums pop..............
I gotta stop surfing porn AND keeping up on here at the same time.

If there's a chance of theft then get the Belle......PLEASE!!!!!!!
Don't put a Reator at risk like that...... She's rare.....

well thats why the reactor would be bolted to the rear deck lid... i'm not messing around anymore now... plus I have an alarm this time too.
But so is the reactor worth the extra coin in the sense of performence and not rareaty (sp) I don't drive the average Saturn either so I guess you can say my "kar" is rare aswell. lol
Oh and all my audio gear is 4 Ohm. I just need it to match/ or surpass the quality of my Klipsch home theater.

Even then it's only 4 bolts.........

welcome to the forum!
a Ti 900.7 or a XS6600 might be a cheaper (and easier to find!) route to take then the reactor. those suckers are hard to find in good condition and cost about as much as some mortgage payments

Reactors and other ZX/Ti amps use fans to cool them, so this is not a problem. Similarly, the RSD amps have their heatsinks along the sides of the amp. This also means it doesn't matter whether it is mounted up or down. I am not sure if the Memphis amp has fan cooling, or where the heatsinking is mounted in those amps.capitolj80 wrote:don't bolt yer amp upside down...they don't ventilate and cool as well that way and that makes them sad....do you really want an amplifier thats sad:(
Now, the two amplifiers compare very closely in power ratings. So much so that the difference in volume should be nearly inaudible. However, the way this power is achieved is quite different. The PG amp uses triple darlington class A/B to ramp up the signal voltage, while the Memphis uses MOSFET A/B, and D for the sub channel.
What does this mean? Well, the PG will be a better sounding amp. It uses an array of more linear, more expensive, lower current chips to build up the power. The Memphis uses a less linear, high current device. On the sub channels, the Memphis class D is acoustically inferior as well, but it is much more efficient. It can only be used to run a subwoofer, while you could use the rear reactor channels full range if you wanted to.
So I guess you know what my vote is.

The 'Belle' is 1100 watts @ 1ohm on the sub section, as fuzzy noted. So output would be better then the Reactor for that portion. Heat sinks are on the sides so cooling would not be as bad upside down.
Size may dictate your decision though. I seriously dought the Reactor would fit on the bottom of the rear deck of that Saturn. Especially considering the torsion bars under there for the trunk lid and the magnets from the rear deck speakers(if you're keeping them). If size and space are the deciding factor then the Belle would be the way. It's small in comparison to any amp or combination of amps that can do the same.
Beside's if you do a reactor, no one here will let you burry it, hidden from the world. We would have to hunt you down and .. well .. no we wouldn't hunt you down but we would be very, very upset

After looking at the sub specs you posted, you may want to consider the smaller version of the Memphis Belle. Its output on the sub section is 400w. The 1100 watts on the bigger version would way overkill. The shallow mount subs from Memphis haven't shipped yet either so depending on how soon you plan to do this.

Well the sub i'm looking at is 4Ohm, the belle is only 1000 at 1Ohm and only 300 at 4Ohm on the mono channel.
I want to get the amp soon because in may I go on holiday and want to re-wire the 4 front speakers to be amped.
Now about installing the amp under the rear deck lid, i'm still unsure about that, i might even install it in the spare tire well and enclose it (with cooling of course). I'm waiting on the full specs for that Memphis sub (box size)
I'm still up in the air about what to get, but its 4Ohm for sure.

well I found one for 700 bucks so I don't know how good a deal that really is, i'm never really looked into car audio awhole lot.
looks pretty damn kool tho for an amp.
Thank I was thinking about maybe getting a 500.4ti for the fronts and a 600.2ti for the sub (or subs, might get 2) but if i were to get them for the "buy it now" price it would cost me 900 plus shipping and these amps don't have the gold plated PCB.

i still say look into the xs6600.
it is very comparable the the memphis bell 700 and its under $300 on ebay.
according to birth sheets a have seen (and i have seen alot for the XS series)
the sub channel will easily put out 325 @ 4ohms
