Active or Passive?

Post by smgreen20 »

Well, if 75% or more say yes I'll do it. Still REAL scared to go active on the Elite tweets.

I have them running active of a rsd500.4 (85 wrms each). Anything you want to ask about going active with the elites?

You know my answer! I have mine runnig active off a Arc Audio Signature Edition #SE4150 @ 150w/chnl! Then an other SE4150 bridged to my Elite 9's @ 300w/chnl.

I say try it out, I'm in the process of picking up a 4 channel amp to run my Boston Pro's active. Why be afraid?? Just cross the tweets high then work your way down.

Well, I guess the ZPA0.3 will become wall art and the ZX450v2 will go in its place for an active set up. Now to buy another RCA cable.

I'll make it easy for ya. I have a spare set of elite tweeters that I had for backup that I won't need anymore. Still NIB. I will offer them up as sacrificial lambs.

I can send them to you and you can use them for the test. Or you can hold on to them as a 'just-in-case' replacement. In turn, you keep us all informed on the progress. Even put them through a torture test if you want and see what thier limits really are. What ever everyone feels will satisfactorily answer the question once and for all.

If your willing to be the guinea pig I'll donate the tweeters. Hell, I'll even throw in a set of RCA's just in case, in the end, you decide to go back to the passive set-up. That way your not out any money for listening to us fools :D

If you're willing to do that, w/o a doubt, I'll go for it. I just bought a set of RCAs off of ebay last night so I won t need those. If I had a back up solution, which you just offered, I wouldn't have hesitated.

PM me so we can get the ball rolling. I need to make an amp rack and I'll need to do the test before I make the rack. Need to know which amp will go in, the ZPA0.3 or the ZX450v2.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

After talking it over w/Greg, I'm going to do it. All or nothing.

W/what he's sacraficing for my behalf put my worries at ease.

As per his request, I will start a different thread about the progress and how I set it up. It might have to go into the install section. Tom, Brian, where should I put it?

Greg is one of those people that make this Phorum what it is and give us a good rep. THX

Should probably go in the reviews section, I would think.

This should be interesting.
