I bought a Clarion DXZ745MP off ebay for the princely sum of $40. I mainly bought it to run my 5.1 processor I bought on ebay as well. Specs say it is a decent HU, I got it so cheap because it won't eject the CD. It is not a huge deal as the car pc is going to supply most of the media, but it would be nice to have a fully functional HU... And mostly, it bothers me because I can fix damned near anything, never been afraid to take anything apart, and at first glance, I am not sure I want to tackle this one...
I opened the HU up last night to see what was going on, I have a good view of the sensor arm, going clickity, click, click, click, but no other movement. It seems to think there is no disc in there. I have the service manual for the HU and just looking at the exploded view of the drive makes me butthole pucker. It is all held together by oh shit springs and jesus clips...
So... Anyone have any pointers? It seems this is very common with clarion heads. I find 100's of references to the cd not ejecting, but not one person giving a good reply as to why or how to get it out...
On a side note, I just bought another Clarion processor on Ebay today, it is a DVS9755z, single din dvd/cd player with virtually all of the same features as the stand alone processor I bought. the DVS9755z doesn't do prologic II though, not sure if I care too much as it has a selectable optical input and that is what I need... Plus it comes with the control panel which I was going to have to buy for the dvh920 anyhow, and I spent less on the whole shebang than just the controller is listed for...
