Phoenix Gold RSDC122 need help

Post by microhaxo »

I am very interested in buying this subwoofer but i have some questions first.

I have a custom made box that is 3 cuft ported at 29hz. If i buy the RSDC112 12" sub will it sound good in that box? I will be feeding the sub 500w RMS.

I am really after some nice bass that can be felt in the chest cavity. I can describe the feeling as if the bass is vibrating the inside of your chest. I have tried to get this type of bass with many different installs and every time i just get car shaking loud bass. I have had kickers cvr 12"s and Rockford p2's and even Type r's all in a sealed 1.8 cuft box. My ported box was made for a 12" type r but even then i didnt get any chest bass.

So to sum it up, will that sub be good for me?

It could be a matter of your tunning frequnecy. Maybe the note that hits you in the chest is higher then your box is tuned?

The rsdc certainly hit me in the chest, but I don't want to promise it will for you

Is 29hz too low for chest hitting bass?

what was your box tuned too?

I'm not sure what the frequency that causes that would be, if i was going ported, i would probably go for something low like 29 also. it just seemed like if you went through 3 subs with similar results, maybe it wasn't the sub.

i was running a 1.4 sealed box, so it isn't really "tuned"

do you have a friend you could swap boxes with to see?

how is the box situated in the trunk?

Tune higher, 33 or 35hz. You will stick get killer low end but the 40 - 50hz range will be a lot louder and that is what hits you in the chest...at least thats what i have found.
