Install pics...

Post by flogger11 »

I had a pro install scheduled for the 23rd, however I just found out my check is going to be much smaller than anticipated, so screw it! I am doing my Polks myself! While the coaxial mode sounded great, I am WAY pumped to hear them configured as seperates! I had the crossovers in the door, now off to the trunk they go, just in case I decide to bi-amp them or such someday. I will hit you with more pics as it progresses, its all me from this point on! Tips on Dynamatting a door anyone? LOL!

Are you going to mount them to your doorpanels? Are you planning a fiberglass enclosure at all?

Your speakers.

A friend of mine tried doing that once before (02 Civic), and the midrange just rattled the hell out of the panel. We had to fiberglass it in order to make it solid enough to not buzz.

It looks like doing that would work out extremely well in your car, due to the shape of your door panel. You could easily make an enclosure directly behind your mid, which should make it sound awesome :D

It looks like they are already mounted to the door as for the reason there is a spacer...... I think ........ :hmm:

Yep, mounted to the door, no rattles at all and I cant believe the difference in thump w/ the dynamat. I have run a 6 1/2" airtight port from the back of my Polk which vents into my door space, and it sounds flippn' awesome! Here are some more pics of the install, more to follow as it progresses...

LOL! No, the speaker was actually an integrated part of that ring, so I had no choice but to destroy the speaker as I really needed that spacer for the air tight vent to the door...

I decided to use your guys advice and wound up buying a ZX-500 and dumping the ZX-450. I have decided to cap my audio system at this point, it simply sounds soooo good now there is no need for mid-bass drivers. Thanks for all the help guys!
