I could blow that piece in a matter of seconds.. Wire it at a lower impedence, and kaboom, wouldnt last 20 seconds..

As for breaking in subs, i dont believe in it, and never will. A sub will naturally break in by its self under normal play time. I always, and will always continue to crank every sub out the box. Ive had no problems what so ever, and ive owned/ tested way to many subs to date..

Regardless of how you "break in" a subwoofer or driver (either through music or tones) does it make sense to believe that the spider will loosen up and the response of the woofer will change from it's brand new state?

The reason I ask is because I noticed my RSd12D2's are sounding smoother and more efficient now after having them installed for a while and I'm wondering if I'm just dreaming or if this really could be the case.

Ya, break in truly does exist. My polks sounded downright terrible (ESPECIALLY the tweeters) when I first put them in, but within a week they were fully broken in and sounding awesome!

How much lower? if all the coils are wired in parallel then its pulling .5 ohms , I mean I have seen alot of subs demoed this way because alot of car audio shops do this so they can send them back , but not one that lasted 45 minutes  Most subs 45 seconds

What im saying is, that sub was more than likely wired as high as possible, not sure of its voice coil specs though.. I havent seen any other sub last 45 minutes, but then again, every sub Ive ever put in the wall socket, or have seen in the wall socket, were wired down to the lowest impedence possible, hence why im telling you that sub wouldnt last long at all wired low. Ive seen far far more potent subs in the wall socket. DD 9500s, mtx 9500s (crap), l7s, fi's, ect.. 8)

Gotcha! , Its funny and sad in a way when you watch some fellas put 700 dollar subs that are perfectly fine in a wall socket , I think I saw a RE XXX and a few others that were good subs get took down like that.

In the motorcycle world there are two schools of thought in breaking in a new engine, baby it for certain period of time (like the manfacturer recommends) and the 'ride it like ya stole it' (which I'm a believer) like this guy says http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm
INteresting website, never thought of it that way.

I was running them for a good month before you got them, so it's probably just the dope :bong:

That's what I thought... but you noticed it too... could be because you were hitting the bowl on the ride home from Abbotsford though :bong:

You're quite right, I was somewhat underwhelmed with them after we installed them in your car, but at the next visit they sounded great. I was only giving them 125 watts apiece, and didn't listen to them that often (motor sounds too good!), so perhaps they never got broken in completely.
