It's nice to see that there is still such a fan club hanging around. I just purchased the tantrum 600.4 to run mids in my 99 ranger ext cab. I have a set of morel tempo components for the front and a set of phoenix gold 5X7 for the rears. I have a memphis 10 (ref series) in a memphis ported box with a RF 500s bridged. So, I would like to get my hand on a tantrum 500.2 for the sub. I may build a box for an older 12w3v2 jl audio sub though and compare the 10 vs 12 thing that I can never seem to make up my mind.
Oh yeah, I have been in and out of car audio since 1990. I was always a big fan of a/d/s stuff but had to buy the boston pros because they fit into my budget at the time. I had the soundstream MC245 for years then switched to the soundstream reference stuff.
I just switched out some blown quarts for the morels and am pretty impressed...especially for the price point of 279.00.
introducing myself with a tantrum 600.4
ah, sounds good but might be a bit much for my pickup. But if I do decide to get a car someday maybe the 500.2 won't be enough....hmmm.Jacampb2 wrote:Welcome to the Phorum.
I have a tantrum 1200.1 for sale in the classified here
Later,

So, do you guys think the tantrum 500.2 will run a pair of JL 12w3 v2 in a sealed enclosure.
oh yeah, for sure, and these did not sound all that great during the demo but I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and I needed something. I was on a rode trip and got tired of listening to the buzzing quarts. I can say that the Morels shine. Even the cross over seemed whimpy and cheap but I must confess that the tempos Rock. They don't quite have the smooth kick drum like the quarts did but they are very musical. My neighbor bought the Focal comp for 299 and the Morels in my truck sound quite a bit better to both of us.stipud wrote:Welcome to the Phorum!
From Quarts to Morels... yes that's quite a difference. Pretty much opposite audio characteristics from both of them!
