Phoenix Gold Ryval V8001 vs RSD1200.1
Phoenix Gold Ryval V8001 vs RSD1200.1
im wandering how much stronger is a rsd1200.1 vs ryval v8001 i know a installer that claims the ryval puts out 1100 clean watts but its rated at 800 rms and the rsd 1200 at 1000 rms ihave a oz me15 with a infinity 611a 650 rms and im looking for more power i wasnt sure if 800 would make that much difference if the ryval was any where close i would chose it as i can get one for $120 refurb vs $289 for rsd this is my first time posting but i am here all the time thanks

Welcome to the phorum! nice screen name
the RSD is actually quite a bit more Powerful
its rated for 775 @4ohms and 1200 @ 2ohms
the ryval is rated for 600 @ 4ohms and 800 @ 2 ohms
in addition, the RSD has more headroom. that is to say the Ryval's power supply is designed to make 800 watts (its rated power), while the RSD's power supply can make quote a bit more then 1200 watts, PG just throttled down the output.
If that doesn't make much sense let me know and i will break it down a bit farther.

I would be VERY surprised if the Ryval made much more than 800 watts. They make their rated power, but being the budget line, they aren't exactly known for being underrated. Solid amps they are, but cheater amps they are not.
The RSD series on the other hand makes 1200 watts RMS by CEA ratings, but has been measured up to 1500 watts in conventional setups. This is nearly double the output compared to the Ryval. Not to mention, it has better circuit design, so it will sound better doing it as well.
The 800 watt Ryval versus your current 650 watts will barely sound any different at all. The rule of thumb is that you have to double power output to gain 3 decibels, so a 150 watt gain is going to do very little. The RSD on the other hand, should definitely give you a very noticeable increase... at least assuming your power distribution is up to snuff. This means upgrading your battery to frame ground to at least 0 gauge, upgrading your alternator to battery cable to at least 4 gauge, and running at least 2 gauge power and ground for the RSD itself (0 gauge if you have multiple amps).

the RSD will need its own 4awg any way you slice it.
ideally you will want a dedicated 4awg for each, but ultimately the 500.2 would be ok with its own 8awg as long as you keep running it at 4ohms stereo.
you could also go with a 2awg or 1/0awg to the back and use a distribution block.

i think ill go for the 2 runs of 4 ga and the big 3 because my lights dim just a little now when bass hits and iam running the 500.2 at 4ohms i was thinking about adding 6 x 9s to the rear and running 500.2 2ohm x 2 but i wasnt sure if it would degrade my sq running 2 ohms my cdt componets are not keeping up with the bass my car is a 01 chrysler lhs with 130 amp alt would this work
