octane R 12" magicly stopped help?? update 07-22

Post by wil-editionone »

hey you guys

just a few moments ago i was working on my car and all of the sudden my sub stopped making noise haha

ive been roaming the forums but i can't seem to find anything that could be the reason my sub stopping.

amp has power (lights on)
no cable fracture as it seems
i've opened the enclosure en all wires are connected
all the other speakers in my car work fine

so if anyone of you has a thaught bout this please share

what is a specific problem for the Octane R subwoofer that could cause this

lots of thanx in advance

will

Do you have another sub you can hook up to see if it works or not?
If another sub doesn't work the problem is likely the outputs on the amp if it works it is a problem with your sub itself likely a tinsel lead has come loose and is making a poor connection.

it doesnt sound like a "common fault with the sub"

you will have to start diagnosing it from the beginning.

do you have another amp (or even a home stereo) that can power the sub just to see if it makes sound?

or another amp you can swap in to the car

as little update..

today i started testing the sub and amp. and it doesn't appear to be the amplifier.. i've put aother speaker on it and it gave a perfect signal..

so, i opened up the subwoofer box. and i could find nothing but a connector that appeared to be a littlebit loose.. a little sqeeuze with som pliers did the trick a voila.. the subwoofer worked perfectly again..

for about 3 minutes..

i seiously have no idea what to do next.. all ik can think of is maybe replace all the wiring within te box but that still doesn't explain the subwoofer playing for 4 minutes and then stopping..

How long did you run the other speaker? Try it for a few days, then you will know for sure if it's an amp or a sub issue.

Try using a different terminal on the sub, and soldering it or installing some sort of clip. The terminal might also have a poor connection to the tinsel leads that go into the sub... check those as well.

Where the speaker wire connects to the speaker is called a terminal.

Your Octane-R has two possible places where you can connect the wire to... the third place is connected to the tinsel wires that go into the subwoofer.
