AX 406a repair question

Post by adcomcyclone »

I have a PG A 406a crossover that has a burned resistor that has been sitting around for a few years, and I would like to repair it. It sounds as if PG doesn't release schematics, so I am wondering if anyone would have a clue on helping me find the value of the component that is blown.

I thought it would be very simple, but the color coding on the resistor, is difficult to tell, because the colors aren't easy to define, even in great lighting.

The position in the crossover is R6-4 (it is browned on the board, but I think this is correct). The location is just above the power/ground input terminal on the crossover. The component is a light green color with bands from left to right on the circuit board that appear to be:

1. Red
2. Red
3. Brown
4. Brown
5. Black

I could be wrong on these, due to difficulty in being sure of the colors on the component, and perhaps the correct color order is reversed. This configuration only works in online value calculators if the order of the bands is reversed (from position 5 to 1). This would have a value of 1.1 kilo ohms, with a 2% tolerance. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct value in the R6-4 location in the crossover, or where to get a schematic?

R6 is a 22 ohm 1/4W 5% flame-proof resistor. Its in the delayed remote circuit and the DR probably got shorted to ground accidently at some point.

Well that sure makes it easier, and just proves I was way off base on the coding! Thank you for the information!

Well you were on the right track but the resistor being burnt made it very difficult to tell what color the bands really are. Should be red red black gold black
