Thanks Mang!!!

They looked pretty good in the pics, but we'll see once their finally in my greedy little hands!!!

As I remember though...these drivers were pretty rugged. We used to demo that pre-release 12 from back-in-the-day by inviting people to punch the cone!!!

The big question now is just how much I'm gonna get raped for shipping. The MS275's I've gotten have never exceeded $40 to ship (one from Florida and one from Illinois) so I can't see these being more.

I paid $35 each for the two XMAX 10s I had a few years back. Still have the box I was running them in. Seperate chambers and now I have 1 XS104 and 1 10" XMAX in the box.

When I had the 2 XMAX 10s They were being pushed by a Kicker ZR240 at two ohms, birth sheet said 360wrms by 1 at 4 ohms so about 450 by 1 at 2 ohms, and was in a '94 Olds Bravada. I would hit 141 dB on a regular basis.

Give me some time and I could let you know what the box size was.

Well...shipping was only $32 for the pair; I can live with that.
They shipped Friday and showed up today.
UPS wants $80.11 in "Brokerage"!!! Fuckers!!

I have to call UPS back in a couple hours and tear someone a new asshole...it may not reduce the amount, but at least I'll garner some satisfaction.

I requested USPS from the seller, but he'd already sent them.

One of my MS275's came via USPS - no duty/brokerage
The other one came UPS - cost me an additional $35

And thanks, next time, I'll be sure and ask someone here first :D

If you live in one of the UPS transfer cities, you can actually call them and request to self-clear the package. This means you need to go to the UPS office, pick up the customs forms... then you go over to the customs office, fill it out, and pay what you owe. Then you go back to UPS with the completed forms, and they give you your package.

For you this probably means you would have to go to Toronto. For me, I would have to go to Winnipeg.

UPS is re-rating the brokerage fee.
Come to find out, the seller over-stated the value of the speakers (which drove up the fees), and didn't list what I actually paid.
I'm temped to leave scathing feedback for this douche-bag.

Well... he might have thought that declaring them with a high value would get you more money if they were damaged in shipping. Most people (and companies even!!) in the States don't know about the brokerage fees that UPS charges for crossing the border. It's a pretty huge scam, actually. I've had to pay as much as $160 brokerage for my $650 alternator. Fuck heads.

It is a scam and yes, they are fuckheads LOL

You're probably right about his higher-than-I-paid declaration. What pisses me off is there is no real logic behind what fees they charge. It seems totally inconsistent and arbitrary. Once UPS re-rates my fee, I'll report back.

All I wanted was to get some junk in my trunk!!!

It's been re-rated at just over $50... still more than it should have been. Apparently, the brokerage fee only applies if the package is sent overland; Air freight is only subject to applicable taxes.

I will request USPS only from now on

I generally don't try to buy things if people insist on sending it UPS ground across the border... but it's happened.

Got Em!!!

They were shipped loose in a box filled with styrofoam peanuts. One terminal post bracket broken on one sub presumably in transit.

Xmax 10's were wicked performers.

Xmax12's were picky drivers, sometimes worked great, sometimes very disappointing. Very unforgiving, not to mention there are many versions.

And the darn terminals always broke off the baskets when you yanked them out of the box.

My 2 cents.

I had one that the terminal broke off of. I used some plastic that I had lying around from a custom HU/dash install I did. Traced the original size on the plastic and cut 2 of those out and glued them back to back and then drilled the holes for the two terminals and the screw mount.

Doubled up because the plastic wasn't thick/strong enough just as one piece. Worked great, never had any issues w/it.

I was thinking that it wouldn't be too hard at all to replace the terminal.
But now I've got another problem: I hooked them up and one is a-ok...the surround has separated from the basket. It doesn't appear torn at all, just no longer attached to the basket and thusly, no good.

Is there an adhesive anyone would suggest to re-attach this? Or would Phoenix repair the sub if I were to send it to them?

So a quick trip to the hardware store and a bit of fun-with-inhalants should have me up and running?

PartsExpress has a specific glue for attaching surrounds to baskets, but at $20 shipped, a locally available alternate would be much preferred!!

It appears Francious just used a pretty average glue.

Thanks FSD!!!

The seller responded and has requested some pics. He says UPS packaged the items, and they're insured, so they should be responsible. He wants to go through the claims process with UPS.
