I fixed both the separated surround (gotta love contact cement!!) and the terminal bracket this weekend. Installed both drivers in a enclosure and tried them out in my living room. They sound far better now that one cone isn't flapping around.
The seller has started the claims process through UPS, but given that I've repaired the damage, I don't see how UPS can compensate me at all.

Is there any easy way to tell a V1 and a V2 XMax apart?
The backs of the cones and the baskets appear slightly different from one to the other and it makes me wonder if I didn't end up with one of each version.

One has heat shrink around the tensil leads and the other doesn't. Which is which I don't know. I've had both, but don't recall which is which.

If I had to guess I'd say that the one w/the HS would be the V2.

Thanks SMG... Funny part is, as part of my repair I put HS onto the leads of the sub that didn't have it. I assumed that the one's with HS from factory were V2's as well, but thanks for helping to confirm that.

The TS parameters for the V1 and the V2 are different and I just want to build boxes to suit each drivers' need.

It wont matter. I had mine in the same air space and had 0 issues. Ran them that way for about 6 months.

Were these drivers not built by DD for PG, I think they were, they seem to share the same basket design and magnet structure to earlier DD woofers.

Also the shrink around the leads leads me to believe this.

no these subs were done all at pg..
the frame is a pg design and i think the cones were made by someone else

if u have the xmax with shiny surround then thats the first gens.. the 15s also had oversized baskets which later were changed...

i still have one of the oversized versions...

love my xmax 15s..
You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!
