Hey guys... been awhile... actually since Sound Buggy, but I did manage to find you. You can run, but you cannot hide.
I am ready for another install... the fun begins!
I suppose we just never grow out of this.

Some of you may remember my last install in my former 06 Sonata.
I plan on doing something similar in my 08 Sonata, but I have been without for about a year now... even out of the loop the latest car audio goods.
I plan on keeping my factory headunit with the XM and 6 disc changer in play... using a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 and a Palm TX handheld for OEM conversion and processing.
There will be separates up front (mids in lower door and tweeters mounted in front window corner - both factory locations). I came very close to picking up the Hertz Mille MLK165's, but have since backed off of those since they are soooooo expensive. I slept on it and realized that was just too much to spend. However, I do want the best midbass I can get figuring the best bang for the buck. Hopefully I can stay under $500 and I do NOT mind buying from eBay.
Either a single 10" or dual 10's in the trunk, firing down, just like my previous install... and I have about 2.2^ft internal volume to work with. I need to stay with the 10's for depth purposes and to conserve trunk space.
The Xenon 10d2's spoiled me... I have yet to hear anything nearly as close, other than surprisingly I heard one CSS SDX10 ported in a SUV the other day and I must say it brought back memories of the 10d2's. I don't even know that it may not have hit a bit harder. I must have that low bass that the 10d2's gave me with whatever I do. I am hearing the RSdC 10's are possibly just as good down low, and better above 50-60Hz. That sounds promising with the low prices I am seeing for those on eBay. I am modeling several to compare to what I had previously... there seems to be a lot out there to consider.
Amps... I prefer just one, which will be mounted to the front of the sub box and between it and the fold down seats. Probably a 4 channel with two channels bridged for the sub(s). I suppose what I get will ultimately depend on what sub and speakers I end up going with.
I have already ordered 300 sq.ft. of Dynamat Extreme from eBay and will strip the seats, carpet, doors, rear deck and trunk for installation.
This is just in the planning stages thus far, nothing actually ordered but the Dynamat.
Before I pull the plug on anything, I would sure appreciate some recommendations and options thrown at me... for any or all of the above.
Thanks guys!

good to hear from you again....the herzt are apparently AMAZING...i don't even know what to recommend you that would be close.
hopefully someone here can point you in the right direction
so since i too am a lover of the X10d2...i can tell you without fail...go with the RSDc12.
i switched and never looked back...its actually SMOOTHER down low, louder overall....and MUCH quicker then the x10. i have yet to find ANY flaw it whatsoever.
the x10 will probably become a home theater sub now.
for amps...the xenon 200.4 is the first place i would look.

I agree the Hertz are amazing... I fell in love with them when I heard them, but my pocket book did not. I heard the High Energy Series in the listening room and could not discern much difference between them and Mille's while in the board, but did not hear the High Energy in an install. They are $650 less... and may work.
RSdC124 look cheap enough on eBay. What box volume did you go with ... sealed or ported?
Is the 200.4 real? 200 x 2 @ 4 ohms + 400 x 1 @ 2 ohms
400 watts I assume is enough for the RSdC124.

ultimately it would like as much as you can give it....but i dont know of any multi channel that can realistically do much more then 400 watts. tom is running his on 250, and LOVES it
it will still sound Great off 400 watts (its more efficient then the x10...so if you like the x10 on 400 watts it will be great)
the box i used was 1.25 sealed
also, the xenon 200.4 is a true 200 by 4 at 4ohms...and you can actually get full power out of the bridged channels at 8ohms bridged.
so 200 x 2 and 400 x 1 @ 8ohms if you wanted

I second, third and fourth the RSdC124 recommendation. I've been running two for about a week now and I can't even believe them. Seriously. SO much audible detail where before there was none. Truly a fine sub at a kick-ass price. I run mine sealed in 1.21 cu ft net each. Haven't even turned the Alpine knob past 16 (still breaking them in) and they're impressive.

You know I tried 2 Xenon 12's and they just did not do anything for me. I ended up giving them away and went back to the 10's. Maybe I had something haywire with them. Obviously the RSdC's are not that way.
I might be able to squeeze a pair of 12's in there since I'm gonna have to give up another 2" of trunk space anyway. I should be able to get 2.5^ft.
But you are running a good bit more power than the 200.4 with that 1200.1, so maybe I need to just stick with a single 12.
So really it does not matter if I run the 12 or 12's at 2, 4 or 8 ohms if using the 200.4... does one resistance happen to model/perform better by chance?

i totally agree with the X12's....just a big hassle. it was slower then the 10, with now real benefit.
honestly...im doing 1 RSDc12 with a x600.1. its plenty. i think you would be fine with 1 12 on modest power
the amps actually will do slightly more power at 4ohms sterio. so would go with 4 or 8ohms bridged.

I went ahead and snagged a couple of the Xenon 200.4 amps for $249 each off eBay. The guy only had 3 left... now 1. Plus I got me the SquareTrade 3 year extended warranty for $24.
I got an extra amp just cause I could... figured I may do something stupid later on... or if one fails, I will have a backup while the extended warranty repairs, replaces or refunds money on the failed unit.

I think I will try the CSS SDX10 to start with. I got one of those for free from one of our sponsors at the Shack... may as well try it. It models very well ported. Plus, the one I heard is in a smaller box and it sounded every bit as good as my Xenon 10d2's... maybe better.
Here's what it looks like. It reaches on down there pretty well.

I still need to figure out the front door components. I may go with the Hertz High Energy series. It a hard decision when I know I can probably be satisfied with the RSdC components for much less money.

The guy that has the CSS in his Jeep is going to run a response sweep using Room EQ Wizard, which will give us a glance at real world response. He tuned his to 27Hz. I'll post it once he does it.
I have been looking at Morel Hybrid Ovation 6, which retail for about a grand, but I can pick them up for around $650. I understand Morel built the Ti Elite's, which run about $400, but I think the tweeter is too deep for my mounting location, as well as I hear the Hybrid highs are smoother.

I noticed you purchased two of the 200.4's from the guy in Houston. Were both bad... and were you able to get warranty or replacement? Thanks!

I didn't buy from the guy from Houston I actually bought from a car audio place in Maryland. I think you are referring to maka? I can't remember if he did or someone else. They said they got the warranty. You are probably worried about getting the defective ones... I would see about getting the warranty if you do but ask maka if he bought from the Houston guy.
