Question about the distribution blocks DD5 and 10

Post by sdsport92064 »

I see that there's a specific subset of remote turn-on's dedicated purely for amps, and then a crapload of "+/-/remote" for accessories.

Is it possible to use some of those accessory "remotes" for amp turn-on only?

I'm asking because I don't have a gazillion processors in the car, but I will possibly have 6 amps, which means I have more needs for amp turn-on than the 5 can give me, but don't need all the +/-/remote section that the 10 will give me.

I'll probably be running 2 accessories max, unless I need to put an extra cooling fan or 2 in there.

Thanks

I don't see why it would be an issue. The only thing it will affect is the delay of when the amps turn on/off.

The amp remote outputs are 500mA each. It takes less than 150mA to turn on an amp, so you could just run one in parallel if you need to.

The point of the DD is that your accessories turn on before the amps do, and the amps turn off before the accessories do. This way they don't have any turn on/off pop. You definitely CAN use an accessory remote to turn on an amp, but it may have a pop. I would stick to the intended use and run one in parallel instead.

So basically stick 2 remote wires into one amp remote and I'd be okay.

That would be a lot better for me, I will have 2 processors so no point in going full DD10.

from what I was reading each remote turn on on a DD can turn on 3 amplifiers, so if you have 6 amps you could easilt switch them on with a DD5.
