A few years ago, my friend had 300/4 and 500/1 amps. They were all run at 4 ohms. We went on a long trip (8hours) and his luggage fell on top the amps during the trip. I was driving in a different car, but we pulled over after 6 hours due to funny noises and his amps were hot (I have however felt amps that were hot before) and smelled smoked. I never saw them (so this all hersey), but he said one of them had a couple resistor come off of them. He said he solder them back on and it worked, but it never sounded right. He warranteed and ditch them after that experience. I don't know if that is an exageration or not but I do know they did over heat. He was pissed because he thought the thermal protection should have kicked in. After warrantying them, he asid he problem try to sell them on ebay, I guess ebay pulled his ad because he was an unauthorized seller of JLAudio (I am not sure what the full story is on that either)

Because they do. :? I don't know how many times we have to tell you. THEY HAVE THE SAME OVERALL CIRCUIT DESIGN. It's almost the same amplifier in a different chassis. The RSD amps especially are VERY close to the MS series -- they are designed by the SAME PERSON. Compare them in a proper gain-matched A/B test, and you won't be able to tell the difference.

What PROOF do you have that they sound worse? You just say that it does, but you have no reason other than your word. I know the MS amps are legendary, but that doesn't mean PG has turned the new lines into the same crap you get from other brands. They ARE cheaper, because they have to compete with all the other brands that have gone to overseas production.

The RSD amps and speakers have been rated very high, even compared against speakers costing 10 times as much.

So please for the love of god give me one reason WHY you think they sound bad.

I don't think anyone was saying that. Amplifiers can and do sound different.
