Wish I could graph it up against an RSD comp... too bad there's no Mac/Linux box software.

Oh I forgot to mention, I spoke with the build house and at the moment we are not able to do a dual 2ohm version, but we could do a SVC 4ohm if someone really wanted one. But for now the dcon's will appear to only come in dual 4.

Damn that is cheap considering how beefy they look... I guess the Icon is only 250-300 right?denim wrote:They are going to be in the mid- 100's. Should be ready for release any day now.
Once it comes out, put me on the short list for an SVC 4 ohm (12 or 10, doesn't matter). Maybe I'll ship it to Portland and let Brian, Errin, Steve or Harold have some fun with it as well, so we can get some reviews going

me as well 12" 4ohm ................going to use my 2250 in stereo 250watts each???? or go 2ohm mono? ........ up for suggestionsstipud wrote:Damn that is cheap considering how beefy they look... They are ready to go! Just got the first official mini-build run in. The 8's are still a little bit away yet.
As for the SVC4's, the build house is checking into them now, but a Dcon demo ring would be fun. There is an extremely talented box builder in Canada, Trevor of Pound That Sound, that is working on something nutty for them.
He is also doing an insane 4 10" Icon box at the moment also.
As for the pricing, we are a very very small fishy in a very full lake. If we ever want to make our product stand out, before the potential customer gets to hear it, we need to keep the price down. Something that is very difficult on an American designed and build driver (something discussed by I believe Brian, on this very challenge in another topic about PG amps being built over seas so they can stay profitable in todays market). We have sold a handful of drivers based just upon appearance, which is quite funny since the market has changed to cheap plastic and chrome bits.
Thanks guys for the positive words on our 2nd driver. We are not trying to take over the world here, just have an American built, excellent sounding, hearty driver. As I think I am too stubborn to cater to the masses or go overseas, we will probably stay a low production line aimed more for the boutique/audiophile market.

I've seen his boxes! Absolute masterpieces if I do say so myself! Pity the guy lives in the middle of nowhere! Though I can't say I blame him... I would probably kill 15 ninjas if I could even have a chance of making a living in the Okanagan valley. Vernon, Kelowna, Sicamous and the Schuswaps... such a lovely laid back lifestyle eating orchard fruit, snowboarding, swimming in lakes and chilling. Ahhh.... that would be the life. Absolutely no computer geek work out there though... boodenim wrote:As for the SVC4's, the build house is checking into them now, but a Dcon demo ring would be fun. Let me know what we can work out for a demo ring. I am happy to buy a pair of drivers to ship around (one would have to be SVC 4 ohm, as I would keep it -- the other I can sell when we're done). Who here would be interested in giving these things a spin? All I would ask is that you pay the shipping, and pass it on in a somewhat timely fashion (i.e. don't steal it

As our build house is kinda running at 1/2 speed with CES going on. I probably won't be able to get an answer back on the SVC4 until next week at the earliest. I would be flattered if you guys wanted to do a demo ring. Weight wise, they are not heavy, so shipping would not be that bad if a logical path was laid out between testers. Also, because they would be drivers in a promotional manner, stipud (or who ever wants to) would get them at pretty much cost.
Another challenge of being a tiny fish is being at the bottom of the totem pole in terms of the build house priority. So things move slow for us. For example, the 8" version was started and prototyped 6 months ago, but we are having an upgraded basket made. We want to make sure it is one of the best 8's on the market, period. And we also have a halo (1500ish watt, 31mm Xmax) model that was started even before the Dcon line. But due to the totally new custom motor, and the amount of steel, we are still waiting on the motors.
I have been tossing around an idea of a driver in between the 300watt Dcon and the 1000watt Icon. Thinking something kind of off the wall, maybe under hung motor, or a double shorting ring. But that is highly dependent on the stability of the Icon and how well the Dcon does. I don't want to over extend ourselves with 4 or 5 driver models, as I know Mark wants to take another stab at the ultra high output segment. Would love to do a stout split coil design for that.

I suppose for demo purposes a 12 would be the most common. I will try to make sure the sub takes the shortest route possible between stops, so we can keep shipping fast and cheap. Let's say you can keep the sub for at most a week, maybe two if you're going to write a really nice review.
We will also have to figure out what to do about a sub box. Do we all test in the same enclosure, and ship it around, or do we use our own?
For now let's keep it to the 900+ post crew, from North America only (sorry no islanders either Brenz/Itchner) So who's on board to test this mofo?
This means for now the following people can apply:
Bfowler, Wakeup, mr tibbs, bdubs767, fuzzysnuggleduck, VW337, FuzzyHoNutz, Francious70, AVICJR, twisted, mhyde71, HoseHead, fordtough1, Mackenzie, smgreen20, gkitching, thedeal7235

i dont mind a 10 or 12, so if someone else has a preference, im up for it.
i will test it in the couple different boxes i have. maybe even build one for it.
and my 600.1 can do 2 or 4 ohms so i dont mind on that either....actually, i will have a rsd600.1 here soon...
