Friggin awesome work as per usual Jason.

As you said, this one has some 'issues' but its so easy to see how sweet this is going to look once you get the folding sorted.

Well, I really needed a break to finish these. I decided to go to Harbor Freight (canadian tire for you northern folks) and buy a cheap Chinese break for $70. So, I did what any self respecting machinist/fabricator/mad scientist would do. I thought about the 40 mile drive to the nearest HF, I thought about the cost of gas and the break, and I said, to hell with it, I can build a break in the same amount of time and for less money than to drive over and buy their piece of crap. I whipped one up between house showings on Saturday, and damned if it doesn't work perfect. Bellow are pics of the scrap metal break, and the finished case. I need to go back and countersink the screw holes, and cut plexi for it, put in standoffs for the board and do cad work for the plastic end inserts.

Here are the new pics:

Forgive my stupidity, but a break is for making straight bends in metal, correct?

Fuzzy, not a dumb question, but yes, a break is a tool for bending sheet metal.

Here is a little bit more. Pics of the boards in the case. Not mounted, the terminals are all going to be removed when finished. I threw a Zx600Ti in for scale :)

More to come later...

This is VERY impressive to say the least. What did you cut that metal with?

Ok, from the other reading it seems you used a CNC mill. How small of a hole can you do with it?

Is there any way you can cut something out for me from a piece of scrap? I have an IGES file.

Thanks guys! I am looking forward to getting it to 100% complete, but I will probably be leaving the zpa project for a few days and finishing my work for Vin and my new stroker box for the p/u.

Eric, I PM'ed you, but the mill can make moves as small as .0001". I will help you out if I can. Email me with what you need.

So, I am kind of thinking about building 3 of these now. I have a 900.7 and an extra 800.1, or a 900.7 and 1200.1 in one case. My 900.7 also has no case, and I want to run it in the Bronco install, so anyone have any suggestions for a cool ass case for the 900.7?

I am hopefully also going to have enough aluminum sheet left over to do the M100/M44 monster that I had started planning before I started on the 800's.

Yeah, that was one of the original ideas. I had thought about designing a big triangle shaped case, in fact, I started doing the design but didn't like it. The triangle case would have housed 4 800.1's stacked two deep and liquid cooled. The other leg of the triangle would have had the 900.7. I just did not like the way it was coming along, and beside that it was looking like it was going to be to big to fit in any install!

You kind of said it yourself, but I'd do the 900.7 in an M series type case. Give it a catchy name.

I dont know if this helps or not (as this is way out of my leage)... but I do have two Brand New PCB's of the zpa0.5 and zpa0.3. Nothing in/on them, straight empty blank printed boards of the 0.3 and 0.5.
I am just throwing that out there, but might be neat way to make a cutom monster with the printed boards.
I realize it is a tease (exspecially not having pic's)
I am not sure if I would like them to find new home or not at this very moment... and hopefully it's not a bad thing for making mention of it, but wanted to mention it as maybe someone would like one or both to make a very nice piece of art or actual functional amp for me?? I can not do it myself, as i am not that well expirienced to do so. But jason is appearantly and quite possibly eric. Might be neat to seat the 0.3 and 0.5 next to each other and fill with whatever componanents that would be the best to todays standards...? i dunno.. just a thought. would take time and some money to throw at it.. but if you have the ability to make a case like that there... maybe make one that will fit the 3 and 5 in there or something?? i dunno

AND I feel humbled as well... as I amtrying to put things together that I have in the works, and it just seems to be one thing if not another as to what holds me up from getting them polished off. This is great project and love the outlook it has...
I just wish I could get my projects rolling off the bench as quick as yours... just need more time.. wish i didnt have to sleep, eat and work... and had all kinda of stupid money to throw at various stuff.

what kills me is the learning curve for me and my silkscreening project... I am learning each steop i make and some of which are ending up being costly, others may take days to recoop from...

Good show Jason... It is inspiring though and makes me pumped about getting my stuff wrapped up.
