only thing i can think of
and would have to have you agree to the results no matter how they come out...
BUT if you get coated out there, and ship... you promise to wear nitrile or latex gloves when you go p/u part from PC shop, and also while packing and wrap it in sheet foam (paper will scratch it, bubbles are oooookay, but sheet foam is best...) I could even send you a sheet foam piece that will cover it up real good, and then you ship to me...

however- still would be lil concerned about contamination... BUT i could, and would anyways, run it through a DA rinse and then maybe even a pre-bake to dry off, and burn off anything that may have come in contact with it prior to coating. and maybe that would do it.

I am prolly being a lil retentive about my protocol for coating in the shop... BUT i aim high and try to get the best possible finish possible. AND leaving out any possibility of contamination as there are 100's to be mindful of... each one we eliminate the better chance we have of getting that beautiful looking glass like finish.

know what i mean?

AGREED

Post by vwguy3 »

I totally agree. I can understand that you want to put out the best product you can because your name is on the end of a lot of work that someone else might of put into it. I was thinking about how you could degrease it after it comes to you. You mentioned a DA wash? Don't know what that is. What would it be then to just have the tins sent to you and redone?

I would also say that if I did send them out there painted I would be okay if they weren't 100%. It would save me some money because I know someone with a PC system that could do the PC for me. That would save me some $$

Thanks

It would be the two pieces. Top with graphics and the bottom without graphics. The heat sink is going to stay on the board.

Thanks

you sure you dont want serial number on back of cover? i will of course pull the sticker/tab off, but artwork can be done and i could include the serial too if you wanted. (just like the rte 66 i did recently)

allow me a lil to think it over, and pls confirm w/ me no artwork on bottom cover and i can come up with some pricing for you.

um... well I just checked the bottom and don't see a serial number. Guess I never noticed that it didn't have one. The only art work on the bottom is the warranty deal and the bridged info. so i guess you could put it on?

Thanks

Matt you could also use RM 900 to degrease it that is what body shops wipe down a car with before the paint goes on to get rid of any oils from handling. Its safe to use on paint so it should be fine on PC. Even if he picks up it at the shop wearing gloves that doesn't garuntee the shop guys didn't handle it without gloves first.
Check my buyer/seller ratings http://phoenixphorum.com/gridracer-vt4548.html

I have more PG stuff than one guy ever needs.

I agree with you here Itchy. It is important that people that makes custom stuff charges what it takes....

In my world custom equals $$$. Period.
