How wide should the slot port be? And how low should I tune? I was thinking it should be about 1.16cuft for the whole enclosure.

It just depends on the box. Use a box building program if you dont have one, or just you can use reaudio.com They have a little box program that works ok

You can never have enough port area, and as for the tuning, I would probably tune it around 30 ish.

yeah for the two separate boxes in my pics. I used the reaudio.com software for those. I think I might tune my next box to 28hz with 1.16cuft. I also look at winisd to see how it works out.

Okay, Could I make my 2.16cuft box be like my two 1cuft boxes. Could I just change the port size of the 2.16cuft box and get it to sound like my 1cuft boxes? The 1cuft boxes are tuned to 33hz. I looked at winisd but I don't know if they count the displacements of the port and sub.

When airspace is listed in WinISD, it is referring to the NET airspace, i.e. after all sub and port displacements.

If you don't have chuffing noises from your ports yet, just lengthen them. A 3 inch port is usually just fine in practice for a 12 inch sub... I personally wouldn't recommend going with bigger ports unless you are going for "mad tyte SPL", or unless you like building boxes a lot. Bigger port = bigger box required... you can't simply drop a 4" in place of a 3" port without changing the size of the enclosure.

Go to Canadian tire, get yourself some 3" PVC, and experiment with the lengths until you find something you like. Or give us the dimensions of your box and exact length of your port, and we will try to figure out how to tune it better for you.

okay my outer box dimensions are: 33"width, 14" high, 11" depth. It's made out of 3/4" mdf. Shared airspace. Two 3inch port holes.

And is winisd right about this. I put in the specs of 1cuft tuned to 33hz for a single sub box. Then I put in the 2cuft box tuned to 33hz for a dual sub box. And both the port lengths were the same. I thought you had to double the length of both ports to be equal to one single port? It says you could use two 3"diameter ports with a length of 14.95". And it will equal out to 33hz.

I was thinking of getting some elbow brackets for the pvc so it could go in front of the box and go up then back on top of the box. So the ports will face backwards instead of forwards. It won't effect the volume to much of the box then I thought. Also I don't have enough depth to make a port straight out.

No, the length it gives you for port length is the length of EACH port.

If each of your ports are about 7.5" long, for a total length of 15", then it's tuned ~45Hz

yeah the program says each port length is 15". So a total length of 30"? So I need 30" length for each port then to make 33hz? Or just 15" for each port?

Total length of 30", yes, which means each port needs to be 15" long.

so, what if you have a square port, that is 2.5inches by 12inches, by 20 inches long? What would tht be considered to be tuned at?? any clue?

ok I think I know what I'm going to do. I am going to use my two separate enclosures and have a trim panel on front and probably the top. Heres some quick pics. Before and after. I like suggestions if you think its a good idea.

The Two boxes alone:

I would just make one big box with a divider piece in the middle. It keeps the subs in separate chambers and eliminates the need for a trim piece. Just my .02 cents.

So I should just make a whole new box all together?

Well, if you are just going to use what you have and it sounds good than I wouldn't. If it was me I would take the 2 boxes and screw them together from the inside and use your trim piece idea. No sense in waisting two perfectly good boxes!

i hear yeah, just play around with it, u may change your mind by next week; when u check out my work truck, i originally had a sealed box, then decided to waste another 6 hours and build a slightly larger slot port box-just have fun; think about , also, if in the future you may want more power on the subs, so keep that in mind with any amp rack-this is also just my 2 cents-still think your vid is best ive heard thru internet

I think I might just stick with the boxes I have. I put the two separates back in. Like in my pics, I might just leave them like that.

How much more power would you give them? Thanks about the vid comment. A guy on you tube said it sounded good as well and asked where to buy them.

I just noticed today when I looked at the doors when music was playing. My doors were flexing. And my windshield is a bit also. I need to get rid of all the rattles though. I hear everything vibrating. It makes it not sound to good. I have a can of rubberized undercoat. That may work I don't know.

that'll be sweet. Anyone know why my deck skips cd's? The Cd's don't even have one scatch on it. Some are brand new. Is it to much bass for the head unit? Only skips when I put it up pretty loud. Could I fix this somehow?
