MS275 2ohm Mono ???

Post by GX3 »

According the the manual the 275 is stable to 2 ohms mono. Any one done it and know the power output?

MS275 Stable into Bridged Mono 2ohm loads, 1 LR Stereo
MPS2240: Stable into Bridged Mono 1 ohm loads, 1/2ohm Stereo

ok and a question on the 2250TA running at 1ohm stereo this amp will do the same as 2ohms stereo????? 500x2

Im looking for option on the RSDCs (12D2) 1ohm mono on an mps2240 (300x1). Would this be enough power?

or a single 2250TA running 1ohm stereo (500x2)

I would imagine it is at least double the power than it is @ 4 ohms....

Im not 100% sure but I think its makes about the same @ 2ohm mono?

However, I never tried it, but it could be possible it makes more since IIRC the 2125 makes ~700 @ 2ohm mono...

On music you might get an extra 30% or so power, by running at the lower impedance. However, the amp will run much hotter, put far more strain on its components, etc. It may need fans to keep cool.

I would rather see you run an MS2250 to each sub personally. I think they can take the juice... and worst case you can just keep the gains down a bit.

the MS275 can do a 2 ohm load, u need to hit the switch internally to red instead of Yellow , this optomises the power suply for lower loads and pushes the amp into high current mode.

makes the same power I think

Ok so the it looks like i only have space for 1 2250 so that will have to do for the subs..... my 2125 will go for my 4 6.5", 275 for my mids (4"), tweeters (passive xover) off of a 2240

I could squeeze in the second 2250 if i run the tweets off the mids 275 and pull the 2240 out

Sorry to dig this thread up again but it's relevant to me.

Do you think it's safe to run a 2250TA in 2 ohm mono? (for a pair of 4ohm subs). I don't want it getting to hot and causing it stress! Poor thing :D

Or else I can just as well use two of my spare MS275 amps in the same space - one amp for each 4ohm sub (so I guess about 280 RMS per sub)

Yes, but you will need to fan cool the amp and also prepare your electrical system cuz it will draw quite a bit of current. At 2 ohm mono the TA's will do ~1500 watts.

Really, that's a hell of a lot of juice! I don't actually need anything like that really. To be fair my subs are only rated at 300 each

I think i remind that the user manual says that the MS275 goes into overload when it reaches 360WRms? I may be wrong of course.

even though your subs are rated at 300 rms the dynamic headroom u will have running 1500 watts will be benificial, music has dynamic passages that will require more instantanous power.. if u are gonna listen to music then this wont be a problem, but if u are gonna listen to bass music or with a bass enhancement devise cranked then yeah u will probably warm those coils up a bit.

i would do it, i really dont think u will have a problem and the TA will take a two ohm load with no problems.
You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!

I don't listen to bass discs or use bass boosting EQ devices. In fact EQ should only ever be used to cut peaks, well in hifi anyway. Maybe different in car audio.

i still reckon you would be fine with a pair of ms275's bridged on each sub...

but since you got the 2250 coming use that 8)
Ti1 headunit (unique)
Outlaw in crate.
2x original shrouded ms2250's.
Route 66 in box + custom m100 to match.
Roadster 66 in flight case
Octane LE in box.
Reactor #186 in flight case.
Reactor EQ232
Ti400.2 AL
AX204A + EQ232 + ZPX2 + TBA set
ZCS6 component set
Tantrum+Titanium bass cubes
Ti12d Elite sub
DD5 + DD10 + 6 Ti blocks!
