If you had a mono amp that was rated at 1200@2ohm or 775@4ohm, and a sub that was only 500rms/900max with dual 4ohm voice coils, how would you wire that properly so that you are only sending 775watts to the sub? I don't want to risk throwing too much at the sub and blowing it...

Also, how would this effect the sound quality of being 4ohm instead of 2ohm?

You can't wire a dual 4 ohm sub to be a 4 ohm load on a mono amp.

In this case your options are 2 ohms or 8 ohms. Does the amp produce less power at 8 ohms than 4 ohms? I would assume so but I don't want to presume so I'll ask instead.

With a mono amp it doesn't matter what the ohm load is as far as sound quality is concerned......I would assume it is a class d mono block amp...in which case ohm load does not affect sound quality

honestly you should be ok at 2ohm.... just leave the bass boost down and your gain at a modest level. Fuzzy is correct it's 2 or 8 ohm with dual 4 ohm coils... now if you had 2 subs with dual 4 coils then you could do 1ohm or 4ohm. does this help?

Sub is a Xenon 12d4 which I've had sitting around for a few years, and amp looking to get is RSd 1200.1
