I cant say that I have heard a g5 but I am a huge boston fan. I have always found bostons to be very musical and easy to blend with a good front stage. I never have ported one tho, A port could give you alittle more balls. I have an IDMax and it is the complete opposite, gobs of bottom end and a rolloff above 50 or 60hz. The Idmax needs good midbass reinforcement to blend and sound controlled. If you were interested in a used one I might be letting mine go. If you havent noticed there is a huge fan base for the RSDC woofers here, and hearing all the hype I am thinking about running a pair.
We don't need no stinkin' bass boost!

Ive always loved there coponents then I installed a set of G2 x2 10" in an install I did a while back w a crossfire vr604 amp and I was a little reluctant b4 I was done cause they were the G2's but they amazed me how we'll they sounded. But I got this G5 brand new for $100 and I couldnt pass on it when it was $450 brand new at shops so I built a ported box to Boston specs for it and it sound better than 2 w6v2 I used to have. How much would u want for that IDMAX? I have seen allot on the RSDC sub on here but I jus been a little reluctant cause its the newer gen PG. Dont get me wrong I love PG, plus havent heard a set or 1 but I really want great SQ, but jus the newer stuff hasnt impressed me also Im a believe in when companies first started way bay they all jus stuck to what they started out with (ie; rockford, PG, MTX, & etc did amps, then pioneer, alpine, kenwood did HU, and JL, Boston, infinity, MB quart did speakers) yall know what I mean right. I think they all shoulda jus stuck w that.

honestly if I got that deal on a g5 I would use it. I would have to have atleast 200 out of my max because I just reconed it. It would probably be in your best interest to use the boston. I have been thinking about replacing my IDmax with a g3 12 and buying a pair of rsdc's to keep for the furture.

You couldn't go wrong with a G3 or G5 subwoofer, especially at that price! I've been a Boston retailer for a little over a year now and have had nothing but great results with both drivers. In fact, I think I'd take a pair of either one of those over Boston's flagship SPG555 unless I was really tight on space in an install.
