Can I run a 4 ohm svc speaker on the XVR2 or do I have to have the XVR4?

The impedance will change the crossover frequency, so yes you would probably need a 4.

That sucks because I cant find a XVR4.

Just add a 4 ohm resistor in parallel with your sub....causing the crossover to see a 2 ohm load and thus keeping the crossover frequency where it should be. :)

Wouldn't that resistor have to rated for at least 200W? That's a big resistor.

I going to have an ms-275 running a 12" svc 4 ohm sub. if i drop the 4 ohm to 2 ohms wont it be 450 watts and the resistor would need to be bigger than 200watts( dont know just asking ) :?

Here are the component values for both, maybe you can find the XVR4 parts and swap them out:

I am nowhere near that level. Also they say its(XVR2 ) 250watts continuous and 500 peak. Is that for the sub or the whole set up - Front and Sub?

Plus think about how much raw heat that resistor would see. I'm not so sure just how hot it'll get, but I know it'll get warm.

Just get another sub.

Oh yea, and a resistor that size wont be cheap. I went looking about 8 years ago for my own resistor that I wanted to put in series to raise the ohm level of the sub and it was going to be IIRC, @ $65.00

Thanks for the feedback. have any other suggestions for a replacement crossover like the XVR4?

Is your XVR new with the box??????? I may have one to trade you  I have 3 i know 2 of them are XVR2s and the 3rd is the XVR4 you need ......All of mine are BNIB

If i get a 4 ohm dvc sub for the ms-275 and run it at 2 ohms w that xvr2 will that work or hurt the xover?(too many watts for xover)

Sorry man I still need to look at my xvr just to make sure it's a 4. If it is we can trade in some way

Ifvyou go that way you should be ok. The xvr (IIRC) are 500/250rms the 275 makes 250-300 mono even in HC mode.

Do you think the 275 would like the 4 ohm version instead because of heat ( I live in Arizona too! :) ) ?
