The best? I don't know.

I am fond of the Alpine F1's (Scanspeak revelator) and the SEAS components (don't recall exactly what model I heard). My subjective favorite based on listening alone is the Dynaudio System 360. But that could've been down to the install as well.

Oh, in that case, I've always been fond of Adire Audio's old comp set that doesn't get made anymore unfortunately. Best damn speakers I've heard anywhere.

I have been very happy with my Diamond Hexs. For the money probably the best comp set I have owned.

DLS iridiums are great speakers as well. I have been wanting to get my hands on some since hearing them. They are extremely warm and detailed.

A question for all you Hex guys... Are you talking the old ones or the new ones? I have a set of the old eton made ones I love and a set of the s660 or something close to that number that I've never taken out of the box, I just needed the xover for troubleshooting my setup.

Just curious, maybe I'm sitting on a decent set of comps?

I am partial to the older MB Quart Reference series. They just sound the clearest to my ear.

From what I understand new models cant compare to what thye were producing in the 90s. Id like to hear more about the new ones myself though.

Two brands actually. And divided by price.

1)Above $500.00- The Dynaudio system 240 MKII I *HAD*- those were the best IMO.
2)Below $500.00- Clarions SSS600 (something like that) Signature series.

both of my sets are a few years old. I have not heard any of the new stuff myself, I hope it is not a step backwards......
