Hey, Ive been thinking about picking one of these up for some time. I know it's no powerhouse but I think it does enough for what I will use it for. I really like the xs2300 that I have. What I am wanting to know is, What kind of crossover network does the 6600 have. The 2300 that I kept has variable as the one I sold to a friend had the rnet chips. It's not a huge deal but the only rnet I have left is a 90hz 24db I got from Tom with an in dash unit. 90 hz is way to high for my taste, especially with my Idmax. Once again not a huge deal because the xs will probably power an rsdc instead and it would probably blend better and have better transient response than my Max. Any help much appreciated.

Also, is it a bad Idea to run these 2 ohm? I have ran my IDmax on my 2300 at 2 ohms and I was very impressed. I didnt run it for long but I can imagine it was making the poor girl work.

it doesn't really have a power supply made for it

it most likly wont die if you build a cooling rack for it and make sure your electrical system is build up to make sure it gets all the current it wants.

cool, Im not a fan of running amps on low impedence. Hopefully I can find an rsdc svc4.

they dont make a svc rsdc. they make a 12d2 which you have to wire in series for a 4ohm load

I remember installing the XS line new and they were not the most durable of amps. I don't know that I would recomend it either.

you should sell me your octane then I want a single amp to run a small system. I have a x200.4 that would be up to the task but I also have a x1200.1, and I think they need to play together. So im looking for something else. any of the le amps would work. Id love to have a SOFA but I think our austrian friend has all of them.

Yeah im not worried about durabiity. My 2300's have taken a beating. One of them was a dirt cheap ebay as-is with bad mosfets. got them replaced and never looked back. I think I want one for my gf's ride when she gets one anyway. I think the issue is I havent bought an amp in a while and I dont have money right now to get a LE amp. Gotta scratch the itch. I know you guys feel me

Agreed! I've had my XS2300 for about 6 years now and haven't had any problems with it yet. I ran it in my truck all year long for about 5 years and never once had an issue. Plus you can buy more rnets from Mouser and change the crossover settings that way. It's more of a hassle than the continuously variable crossovers but once you have it to where you want it you're all set.

Yeah, the 2300 I am currently using is variable. And it is bigger than the other. I would like to find another just because they look funny together. But it seems the 6600 is rnet. Thanks all

I have never been happier with a one amp system. Never heard a one amp system that could get so loud with out starting to lack on one side or another.

and just remember ttocs...a little over a year ago you were thinking about letting that LE go. good thing you didn't!

waynehead, I'll do you the favor of taking that 1200.1 off your hands if you want to put your big 4 channel use without that overwhelming feeling of guilt! You can rest easy knowing it'll be getting busy on the regular with my 200.4!

I never for a moment wanted to sell it which is why I finally decided to install it and put it to use before I had to. Times have not gotten any better for my and if I had not put it to use it might have been sold.....

You could always make your own r-net with resistors. I'm sure there is a reference table somewhere here. If not, I might be able to dig something out of my old paperwork if needed.

As for the XS line not being durable .. I would have to disagree. I sold shit tons of those amps and they were rock solid! I've reinstalled the same, beat-ass 2300's in different vehicles countless times. On more than one occasion, a guy would sell his 2300 to a buddy (cause he wanted something bigger) and his buddy would have us install it in his car only to have to 1st guy come back bitching he wished he hadden't sold the 2300 to his buddy and get an other XS. Usually I could step em up to a 2500 at that point.

There was a rash of 2500's that had a power supply issue (mostly due to impedance loads not necessarily the amp). But other then that it was a kick-ass line. I had a hard time letting go when that line was discontinued and the Tantrum line replaced it.

I would really like to find a 2500. I would rather have one of those than a 6600. Honestly the 2300 does well with my 6x9's and It really isnt being pushed. Also Jedly, I have considered selling my 1200.1. Right now it is in my little beater work car, running an IDmax at 8 ohms. It cant be happy with such an easy life. I think it needs to be used. I am very close to taking it out but I need something in its place before I do. Another reason why I brought up the xs6600. more than enough for my highs and enough to run a smaller woofer. Ill pull in out if the weather permits me and take some pictures. Im sorry to say it has a very small ding on the top. It was mint when I got it. I had my seats down hooking stuff up and I had stuff on the rear deck, screwdrivers and suck. Well after getting things roughed in I turned everything on and ended shaking something off of the deck onto the amp. Its pretty small, If I was to take a picture of the whole amp you probably wouldnt see it, but I will take a picture of the little prick so you know what your getting if it works out that way. Anyway Ill send you some pics and you can send me an offer if you a interested. Im torn to sell because I have plans for the sisters down the road. I have considered different amps, the 200.4 is so overkill and ill need a freaking bus to fit both the xenons

The 6600 was a very versatile amp back in the day. I can't remember how many I've installed with great results.

The sub section makes a solid 300w as it powered many JL W6 back then.

The R-nets is a great idea, but I prefer pots as its easer to tweek the amp's crossovers when needed w/o having to flip the amp over and building or buying r-nets.

IMO, the XS line has the most durable finish for all PG amps.

For sure on the durable finish. The only part that isnt virtually indestructable is the xs logo which seems to fade.
