Xenon amps suck...

I have had enough. I installed a X600.1 (new) a few months ago in a friend's car. Today he brings the car over and says he thinks his alternator is going bad so his amp is not working right. I take a look and find out the amp is bad. The fan will not come on at all and the amp has reduced output which comes on randomly but is off most of the time.

Based on the problems with broken amps I have bought, and this issue with a brand new X600.1, which was supposedly fixed at the factory before being sold, I think I have lost all hope in the Xenon line.

Does PG still fix these things?

It does seem they have a lot of issues, doesn't it? I have only had one come through my little basement hobby repair shop. I bought it for I think $5 on ebay, a 600.1, and I decided it wasn't even worth the repair effort. I have been cannibalizing it for parts for months now :)

Good Luck,
Jason

I dunno but both of the ones I bought, that were supposed to be fresh refurbed from pg, have noise issues. When I run the signal through either of them it makes crazy noises come out of my front stage. When I run the signal through my xs2300 first everything is fine. I guess cold solder problems. Hopefully my local repair guy can do something for them.

have two in my dads hot rod, a 600 and a 200.4, and they both sound fantastic, no issues, and this is in a 1972 muscle car with old school alternator! No noise, and no problems, and its loud as hell. :D

I've never had any problems out of mine either. I've got 2 X1200.1's in my car. I've also got an X1200.1 in my girl's Explorer. It's been in there 2 years and still runs as good as the day I installed it, which is pretty remarkable considering my 160 pound great dane bounces around in there just about everyday.

Had two X600.1's both with no problems. Currently running a X200.4 in my winter beater with no problems, and recently sold an X1200.1 which I never tested but haven't heard anything from the guy I sold it to. Maybe I just got lucky?

I don't think any of you are lucky with these, I think it is just a matter of time before they fail. Yes, I suppose all amps will fail over time, but my gut feeling is these will fail much sooner than other amps.

So does anyone have a working X600.1 they want to sell?

I have owned and either really run or at least benched every xenon amp minus the 2000.1 and the only amp that ever lent issue was the 200.2...I do however hate the xenon xovers onboard and the passives with their comps...I've burned resistor 10w4rj on 5 sets on a xenon 200.4...started runnin os mb quart musicomps and love the speakers...

sorry to hear you are on a bad run with them...I perfer m series over all other pg amps...but that is just me

Strange, I'm running 2 Xenons in my car and have had no issues at all with them.

I have a 200.4 running the highs/midbass and a 600.1 running a subwoofer.

Not a single issue yet. Not even the slightest bit of noise.
