WHAT DO YOU THINK??? clamp down bars

here you will see two different clamp down bar styles...

aluminum and brass (granted it is not gold or gold plated, but still is a damn near close ass match in person).... SOOO, just for fun (while I await for other parts to come in for other pressing projects), I made some up to see how they would look.

My intent with the aluminum is to powder coat them with the franked theme and use for the Franked 475 I am making.

The brass, Kinda thinking maybe restoring a 275 and powder coating it with a brass mirror, brass gloss/sheen, or something and use the brass bars on that unit.

WHAT SAY YOU GUYS? any input, criticisms. etc...
Before passing judgement please note two things:
1) I ran out of screws to fill all holes...
2) The crooked-ness of the bar on the fets & Diodes, has since been fixed/adjusted and not crooked anymore.

Matt, I personally am not feeling the brass-- It looks like part of a living room lamp to me. I think the aluminum (if polished) looks much better. That said, do you have isolators behind all of those devices? If not, you best get some before you hit it with power.

Are your brass clamps a rounded profile, or is that just the pics? I think they would look better in flat stock, and maybe bead blasted satin.

Jason

I am with jacamp...the brass looks pretty second teir tittie bar to me. I would anodize aluminum to match the install and run all the same led's to accent all of it....be pretty!!!!

NICE exactly what I was looking for - Thanks Guys!

that is brass stem band we use on our wooden canoes. I just wanted to have a go at it and see for fun... If i was to buy brass, I would do just that Jason- Flat Stock.

I'mm sticking to original plans/ideas.

what I will say about the brass though is that it doesn't flex nearly as much as the aluminum bar does, with the inconsistencies of the devices. I could always get thicker bar maybe or like Eric suggested to me, steel... but OEM is what i got now.

AND YES, nothing behind the devices as of right now, but yes before getting buttoned up for good, I will put on new ones...
thx

I think that the brass next to the gold also looks like something added and not really in good taste. I think they might look pretty cool if they were an exact match and you had them plated but that isn't a cheap experiment.

yeah nuther member said same thing to me... polish the brass, and Plate w/ gold and would prolly be a looker after that point.

Something to consider, but for now, prolly gunna drop the brass idea for time being. Fun to toy with though, neat to see, try & do
