Of course, I'd never run an 18 so I'm certainly as far away from the intended audience of this woofer while still being interesting in mobile audio but still... sick!

Its not cheap, but not expensive for an 18.

Its just a monster, sounds good too believe it or not.

the website appears to use a photo shopped picture of the big15, with the cone section scaled larger. The picture morgan just posted is clearly of the actual product..

This really isn't important to me but I'm curious about the woofers being made in the USA. Does that mean all parts are made and assembled in the USA or are the parts from International sources and then the woofer is assembled in the USA?

that is a tempting proposition as I may have a pcx2400 os style coming...not final...but it is an option.

Couple things:

18 and 15 use different baskets. Not so easy to find 18 inch basket these days.

Some of parts are from USA, some from Asia. Assembly and power testing done in USA.

I do believe that I am going to give on a trial run if I can get the funds together...shit, I need someone to fix my a4kdn and kick that beast in the arse. I know it is a gate resistor and possible an issue with the ic chip. Anyone want a lovely outlaw? partial trade for big ass amp may be considered

how much airspace does this need? how much for the unit itself? I've always wanted 2-18's, fitting this in my Tbird is the only problem. 2 1200.1's to each sub .....hmmmmm.

Do you think it would work well in a marine environment? I want something really over the top for our pontoon boat, and this might just be the ticket. I only have 400W RMS to work with though.

As long as you don't direct spray water onto the driver day after day, it will work fine. I suggest a vented box if its an open cabin application.

400w RMS is really not enough. I suggest 1000w RMS min to get her pumping some serious air.

Eric, how about seeing if it will work well in a 4th order bandpass? Then you would not have to worry as much about it being in the elements, and you could tailor its response to be the most efficient where you want it.

Otherwise...vent it, tune it low, and feed it lots of juice and let her rip. Looks like it could scare the fish away.

That is not a bad idea, but I am mostly looking for some low end response, not just more "thump". I have 2 pairs of 6in components in very large enclosures, and they have surprisingly good bass, but are missing the lowest of notes.

I don't want a vented box, mainly because critters will start living in it. The box I build would be a large seat with the woofer firing down against the floor and some spacers to keep it off the floor. I can put maybe a 1.5in to 2in spacing between the floor and the box. The woofer would never see direct water, but will see the dampness of being by the lake all its life.

The components I use currently are Rockford FNQs, which are not marine rated. They are sun faded bad, and on the backside have mildew growing on them, but there is really no rust and they still work just fine.

Well what woofer would you suggest? My 400W would be coming from the rear channels of a Xenon 200.4. I am thinking a dual 4ohm coil woofer would be best, wired for 8 ohm mono. I could probably do a 4 ohm bridged load as well, but I would assume if I get on it, the amp will reduce its output, which would drop the components output, and that is not what I want to happen. But I have never done this with a 4-channel xenon, so I don't know what the result would be.

Do you have a small motor 15" suitable for 400W, or I suppose I could just get crazy and go for a pair of 12s.
