Anybody have any experience with the new orion high power amps? Are the RMS power ratings inflated or are they pretty accurate? I wanna sell one of my trucks and get a new cobalt ss and wanna put a high powered system in it because its been a long time since I had a daily driver with a stereo.

I have heard them...I heard one running 3 xxx's sealed and it was loud as all hell. They have them locally and they are impressive. However. I just got an exile 2400.1 and I would bet side by side the exile is equal in power and I got the 2400 for 250...the orion 5k is three times that....

They are accurate and nice amps....huge power and from what I've heard they have very few issues. Don't see a great deal of dead ones or refurbed sales...I would personally go with the exile for the price over the orion...same company probably built the boards. The orion is half plastic and the exile is solid metal...everything...and for the price you could get three or four amps for the inflated cost of the orion, imo

glad I could help. I play with a lot of equipment and I try to follow the industry and whats out there....don't get me wrong when I say this...but, there is life out there beyond pg...great amps...but their good stuff is sadly not the industry standard and I love spl and have followed what really big amps are worth their salt for a few years....I've no reason to beleive that the new orion is anything but above the current industry standard.

When you compare new stuff you kind of have to look at what is out there and what is expected from the common consumer. One thing about orion is that they have always maintained that. Is the new the quality of the old...I would say more stable and well above what is expect...or the industry standard...not power or true detail of the old comp gear....but how much was the os hcca2250...the beast is their hey day were a few g's wernt they....I can most likely get the new hcca5000 for 500....

Make for one hell of an install for sure. I will be looking forward to seeing what you end up doing.

I used to sell orion back in the mid 90's when the HCCA225 was the best little "25" watt amp you could buy. I can't remember retail but I think it was less than a grand not sure. Even back then I had PG M amps in my car even though the competition down the street sold PG. My boss hated that. It could be a while to see what in fact I do I still have to sell my truck buy a car and buy all the gear and then get it all installed. I will be sure to post it up when I start.
