Morel, SEAS, Peerless, Scan-speak

Post by smgreen20 »

I found a site that sells all of these brands. I have been looking for some time for Scan-Speak speakers. I have an e-rewards account and had enough to get a free 1yr subscription to Sound & Vision and saw an add in the back. The web site is:

www.solen.ca

I never realized just how expensive Scan-Speak is, but I know now it's what I'm after, after looking at graphs and their T/H parameters. I just thought I'd share this.

BTW, the Scan-Speaks I'm looking at are:

:25mm D3004/6020000 -1" tweeter

:150mm 15WU/4741T00 - 5 1/4" mid

:180mm 18W/4531G00 - 6 1/2" mid

I like the freq resp of the 5 1/4 the best, but prefer a 6 1/2". In this case the 6 1/2" is cheaper then the 5 1/4" due to the model. The 18WU/ is on back order, plus it's the most expensive.

The tweeter seems to have a decent 30 degree off axis response which is what I'm after.

MIght not need mentioning but that's a Quebec company so all the prices listed are in CAD, not USD.

http://www.madisound.com/

The best tweeters that I've ever heard are on sale there:

I bought them for almost $400 a few months ago, they are $280 now. I think at $400 they are still worth it.

Vin, that's the exact tweet I want. So even at 3x the current price it's still worth it?

That's what I want to hear.
