Hi, guys, I bought a 12" dual 4 ohm RSDc Subwoofer 2 months ago, and I ran it with a 1200.1 about 3/4 sensitivity (4 v preouts) (no bass boost), in a sealed box about 1.25 cubic feet?

Anyways, it played nicely (no distortion) for a while, but then it started to make a noise like there was a wire hitting the cone from the inside every time it played a bass note.

It would only happen at higher volumes. Anyways, all of a sudden everything turned off, and when I looked, my fuse to the amp blew. I pressed the sub in and out and it makes a scratching noise as if the spider has come away.. I took the sub out but it doesn't look like anything is burnt.

I got this off amazon and I had it shipped to someone here and they shipped it to me.... Now what do I do? Go to PG or Amazon? And how much is this going to cost!?

And should I have not ran it with the 1200.1? It is only rated for 600Wrms, but I was under the impression it could handle a lot more.

Did you ever test to see if you were clipping the amp? Excessive clipping will eventually blow a sub.

More power won't "blow" the sub (unless you're absolutely hammering the crap out of it waaaay above it's rated maximum power handling, think thermal issues). Bad power (clipping) certainly could.

so a clipped wave, is essentially square wave. the peaks are so high that they get cut off.

and as we learned in geometry. a square has almost twice the area as a circle

so when you are sending clipped signal to a speaker you are sending almost 2x the power

so you could have been sending damn near 2400 watts to that sub

you might not be in good shape with that sub right now either...
there is a good chance that PG is out of those subs and may not be getting anymore anytime soon...
