New toy

I got this in the other day.
Roadster 66 #17

If you have not heard one of these amps you need to!
I am VERY impressed with the sound quality.
On par with the MS's I think.

This is going in our 66 chevelle :thumbs:

I had the privledge of listening to one when they were first released and I really loved the amp. Power seemed to be plentiful, and the sq was pleasing. I heard it on a bench...be nice to hear one in the accustic environment it was designed to run in.

seems a little ironic that a new "made in china" sticker is going in classic american muscle.

seems funny that everyone agrees that its a nice sounding amp, yet the rsd line still doesnt get a whole lot of respect.

its only a 600.1 and a 500.4.... (albeit badass looking!)

Yea thats true, but do you think they use higher quality parts inside of it? Or is it just straight up a 500.4 and 600.1 under a bigger case. I mean there has to be some sort of difference? Or I will just go and buy a 500.4 and 600.1 and then my car will sound like it has a roadster 66... I shoulda just stuck with rsd and not go to xenons... all it has done is caused me headaches and debt...

the limited edition amps have generally had very few differences in the stock amps with the exception of the Octane LE that only used one set of inputs and utilized the onboard cross-overs, as well as having a bass cube and rail stiffening caps onboard. Up tp that point they were just two amps under one sink in limited production. I do not know enough about this amp to tell if it is different from the usual amps.

It doesn´t have to be more than two boards under one sink if those have proofen to work fine already! The Roadster 66 looks nice, but if i had the octane le and the roadster laying in front of me and somebody tells me to smash one with a hammer and the other one is mine then, he wouldn´t make it to the end of the sentence and the roadster would be gone for good! :oops: :oops: :oops:

I really like the octane le and this is by far the only amp i would buy for collectors purposes!

The guy should be proud of what he owns. Hell I would feel lucky to own such a cool amp myself!

i dont think anyone was dogging the amp. i think it cool as hell. i really wish i invested in one.

i think it will be a sweet match in that car....especially if you go black interior

I was not trying to bash it at all. IT is a cool looking amp and I am happy to see them get back into the limited edition arena again even if it is still offshore. I can't pass up that it is going in a bad ass ride even though I am a mustang/ford guy.

My aim was more out of curiosity of the idea he seemed to like the limited edition 66 idea. I was wondering if he had considered matching his classic american muscle with some classic american PG with the route 66 or if he knew about it.

It would seem to me that this could be a daily driver but that it certainly looks good enough to be in a show or two. Now imagine the trunk set up, one with the roadster and one with the route? Which one would get you excited and would more people recognize or respect?

It would have been fine if you said that. But clearly this is different:

That jab wasn't really necessary. I like your idea, but not the way you phrased it.

Now regarding the Route 66... the M series doesn't match the vintage of the car much better. Certainly the RSD has much more power, which generally sounds "better" than less, and you don't have to worry about changing caps or the other issues of vintage amplifiers. Clearly he loves the way it sounds, so the only real improvement would be where it's made.

I am not offended.
Everyone has thier own opinion.

I did not know it was a made in china amp till I received it.
I am not a supporter of made in china goods.

I bought it used and well it is mine now.
I hooked it up to my BG Radia speakers. (4ohms) and a 12" RSD sub to make sure everything was working.
It's sound quality and detail were immediately noticeable.
I then ran it thru all different program material... And WOW.
My girlfreind commented on how you could hear detail that she had only heard before with headphones.
I'm pretty sure they spec'd better components than the standard RSD's.
I cannot complain. A sweet 5 channel amp that can run the whole system for $385 :hurr:
A far cry from the $1299 list. :whistle:

I did think of the route 66 :hmm: but not enough power.
Got to get over the exhaust rumble...
With a high compression 327 and Smitthies it sounds great on its own. :D
I even purchased a MS2125TA that I was thinking of putting in there.

I thought the 66 Chevelle with the 66 Roadster was kinda cool. 8)
You guys are PG/Car audio people and can tell the difference.
Most car people are not car audio people too.

PS. any of you anti china guys running RSD or RSDC subs. :wink:

I must agree with 76... I know I am going to need a lot of power to over come the road noise that my 70 runner generates! Well, unless I spend a small fortune adding 12 inches of deadening in it. Great old car, glad you are happy with the 66 ster! Might not be an early version PG amp, but she is still a PG amp! Waiting to see the install pics!!! Nice choice! :D :D

Great amp.....It will look great in the car.

There has to be something said about buying an amp that hasn't been pushed to its limits for the past 15 years. I think the roadster was a good choice.
