rsdc124 and xenon 1200.1

So right now I have the xenon 1200.1 hooked up to my rsdc124 and the thing pounds so hard. 1 12 inch and it feels crazy. The bass pounds my chest. I think im sending about 700rms via my DMM to the sub but I don't go that high on the volume so it should be fine.
I love this output of the amp and the sub. I love the xenon amp. It is sick wid it.
However, I am in the process of saving up for the xcon 12 and if none of you have read about this beast I suggest you do...

I should have enough money november 19th and then be able to see how it sounds running off of the xenon. It powers up at about 1400 watts so I will be a little short but that is hard to hit 1750rms! LOL. I can't wait. And the box I will have will be ported as well. I am going to be loving it. I am excited.... The sub looks crazy. I will have a great review written up on it. Hopefully I won't have to get the SAZ-1500D....

you could just get another x1200.1 an run one to each coil

Yea I would do that, however I am already going to have a tough time getting a x200.4 and a x1200.1 to fit in the trunk along with 1 xcon 12. If I had a suburban, then yes I would deff do that but I have a small trunk..... good thinking though.

I have my RSDc124 running off of my Xenon 600.1 at 8 ohms and it hits plenty hard for me. I can't imagine running it with a Xenon 1200.1!! Then again I do have that Onyx 1200.1 sitting under the bed doing nothing right now.......

Yea I first had it hooked up to a rsd600.1 and then now listening to it via the x1200.1 it really pounds.
The only thing I was scared of was sending it too much voltage and having the sub blow. You have to be careful of not sending too much to the sub. But with my trusty DMM it wasn't a problem and it sounds great even off of 700rms.

Why not the Icon? You are in a better power range for it, I believe.

Yea i was thinking that but i just want to get the xcon so i can be sure that i will get the output that i am looking for versus getting 1 icon not liking it and getting two. Plus i dont want a huge box so i feel like getting one xcon will do the deed and i will be happy with my one 12 sub. Cant wait i am excited.

Dont be worried about output from the Icons, trust me. lol
I doubt even a duo of RSDc12's could keep up with an Icon.
Neither of the SSA subs are terribly power hungry, and I am sure either would quench your thirst for bass, but I think the Icon would be a better choice because it is a better match to the amp & would give you everything its got.

why?
the RSDC's have a higher sensitivity rating by almost 3db, and even though the icon says in its specs "20.5mm xmax" the surround leads me to believe thats a point to point rating, not a 1 way rating like the rsdc spec of 14mm
(not that i'm bagging on the icon...but i feel you have over looked how potent a rsdc is.

I've played with both in person, and can say from personal experience the Icon is a completely different monster.
Denim can clarify for you everything you need to know about the Icon's specs. But in my opinion, sensitivity ratings dont mean shit considering just how many other differences there are between any 2 subs. Where 1 may have a lower sensitivity, its mechanical capacity to move can easily out weight that difference.

damn it.... you guys are making this wayyyy harder for me.... I guess I could settle for the icon, but are you sure that I should get that? I just don't want to get it and say damn it I wish I got the xcon. I guess I wanted to get their top of the line beast and see how it fairs.
audiophyle have you heard the xcon at all? Should I just stick to getting the icon and it will be sufficient. If I do get bass hungry then I could always get two icons I guess...
However the Rsdc124 was sufficient enough for me but I still wanted a little more power output and I was going to go 2 of the rsdc12s in a box but then I said why do two subs, when I could just get one beast of a sub.
So all in all, I think I would be just happy with the icon 12 inch sub. Plus I can afford the icon LOL.

All our specs are one way.
But I don't doubt the RSDC is more efficient, as we have not really focused on light moving mass and we have to give up something according to Hoffman's Iron Law.
The Icon really digs very low and has a very full lowest of low octaves, but I am willing to bet the RSDC can roll along nicely with less power. Much of this usually lends to different designs based on different target market segments. As most in store PG customers are not as obsessed with big time wattage like the online people are. So we are willing to give up some efficiency because of the situation as we know most Icon buyers are going to run between 600-1200 or so watts. Plus, I believe the RSDC will be happier in a smaller enclosure then the Icon will.

I have not played with an Xcon yet, but you have to remember power requirements. Headroom is a beautiful thing, and with the Icon you will have plenty. Not to mention everyone on SSA's forums tend to run gobs of power more than their ratings and get even more out of them. You would be happy with either, but I think you would be happier with the Icon.
Put it in the right box and you will wet yourself, along with everyone else you show it off to.
EDIT: Thanks for clarifying Denim, I knew there was no way the Xmax rating was P2P, not after seeing them move the way they do. lol

I guess I should add, that if you are happy with the RSDC, stick with it. The question should be if you feel you really need the upper limits/capabilities of the Xcon. Metaphor: sub woofer A is a 335i / sub woofer B is an M3, do you drive mostly on busy high ways at the speed limit where it does not matter the upper limits of the car's capabilities, or do you drive on empty back roads where you have more room to run and little differences will show?
As in are your normal listening habits (in terms of the volume and or gain) very reserved or dynamic?
Hope that makes sense. The RSDC is a very well built and designed driver, and if there is no advantage to you to switch, stick with it.

Yea I hear what you are sayin. But if I was really happy with the rsdc then this thread would be non existent. I think it is a great sub. my first was a alpine type-r so I was sketch of getting it cuz I have heard great things about the type-r but when I put it in, I liked it. But I am very excited to get this icon. And having the right amount of headroom is a plus. And since it will be running off of a x1200.1 it should be sufficient. Also I will be running a PG cap with the digital display. So this should be awesome. I can't wait.

Great honesty there! Not trying to cram something down someone's throat that they don't want just to sell product.

I kill off a number of sales that way, not kidding. I don't have the cold salesman trait like many other internet based brands have. I see too many brands promising the world, using fuzzy logic, made up stats, fanboy's, competitor product bashing, and distorted pricing to push sales. They usually prey on the younger or inexperienced audio people who don't know any better.
