I have bad luck

So got my amp from being repaired the xenon 1200.1 because it turned off and went into protect mode and wouldn't come out of it.
Well today driving down the road I was listening to some reggae and then it just stopped. The bass stopped. I checked the amp and of course the blue light was blinking again saying it was in protect mode. I am very disappointed. Luckily I have a 90 day warranty since I just got it repaired. I just think the amp is cursed. My little zx350 hasn't quit on me yet and it is only 400rms to the rsdc12 sub. I set the gain at 700rms on the xenon 1200.1 and it went into protect mode.
So now I have to send the amp back again. Get it repaired and I think I am going to sell it and just get a sundown audio saz-1000D which will do 1000rms x 1 @ 1 ohm which would be perfect for the icon 12 that I want.

How are you setting your gains exactly?

60 hz test tone. DMM hooked up. Have a line driver TLD-66 hooked up. Only getting about 8volts via line driver to xenon. Then I did the equation 700 x 2 rooted. 37 volts. Got it perfectly. So I dunno. I know its not me because I have done this to my dads truck, my car, and another persons car. No problems... however dad has a Ti 600.2 and zx500. Other car has zx350. basically all non xenon stuff. And no problems.

sounds like you might have one of those infamous xenons

yea but the guy replaced all the parts in it. Like new PS FETs and stuff I dunno. I just am not happy. And wish I got a Ti 1200.1 or something. However those are way expensive. Or could just get that sundown saz-1000D which isn't that much more if I sold my xenon.

What's your battery voltage and how is power being routed and connected to the amp?
X1200.1's like their current ready and on tap. If your battery is weak or if you are only feeding a single 4AWG to one side of the amp you're asking for it to break.

Yea it was only one side of the amp with 4 awg. I didn't think I needed both sides wired because I was using only about half of its rated power. Hmmm. Maybe that is why...
Well I will send it back and I guess give it one more try. But I am very temped to just sell this for 200 bucks when it gets fixed and get the SAZ-1000D. It has a sexy small footprint

fuck... I wish I read that. I woulda wired it to both. FML. I will send it back I guess and try it this time with both sides wired. And by then I should have my icon 12 as well in a ported box. Gain matched and everything. Should be rockin.

Actually I believe you should set the Xenon gains assuming a 4 ohm load. But what that would mean is you had had the amp set at 350 watts
Have you checked for stray wires anywhere? The amp should have been checked out, but maybe your speaker wires are shorting out within the box?

see if they can tell you what they are replacing in the amp. Are you burning up the inputs or is it something to do with the outputs?

I was looking in the manual and I can't find out if they have fuses. Maybe I blew a fuse? I just hate how other amps will go into protect mode and then you shut it off and then u can fix the problem and it will work again. This shit just stays into protect mode. Even when I tried taking out the power cables. Checking the sub. And plugging them back in.
I put the zx350 in again and it works perfectly fine. I guess maybe it did try to pull out too much current? I don't know. But next time I get back from being fixed I will use both power connectors.

It's a good idea to use both power connectors. I use these cool little 1/0 to 4 gauge reducer adapters so I can run 1/0 awg wire to each side of both of my X1200.1's.

Thanks bro. At least I know now. I swear though if I have one more problem I'm throwing this in our burn pile.
But next time I am going to utilize both power connectors.

That sucks. I am still leery of using my BNIB X200.4 because I do not want it to be one of the "problem" amps. I might wait and see what PG comes with at CES and sell the Xenon and get something new. We will see. I got a good deal on the X though and it has the power for sure.
