Hey guys, I know it isn't PG, but you're some of the smarter cats I know in this business, does anyone have a link for how to spot fake dynaudio speakers? I think I may have purchased some on ebay back in November and am just now realizing they may not be real... They look spot-on (if they aren't real) and they sound fine (I hooked them up briefly on my home theater to make sure they all worked)
did I get hornswaggled??? AAH!

I have never heard of fake speakers. They might have given you Morels or Dynavox instead of Dynaudio but uhh... hmm. Post pics? What makes you think they are counterfeit?

This is just another mile (or kilometer for you metric folks) traveled down the slippery slope of globalization. Soon you won't be able to trust ANYTHING to be what it says it is.

I got stung on UK eBay with a set of fake JL XR tweeters that I bought to replace a damaged set.
Everything looked as it should, right down to the packaging and mounting hardware. When I looked more closely though, they didn't have the rubber surround that they should have had. An email to JL confirmed my suspicions, and not long after that JL stopped any internet trade, although I very much doubt it was just because of lil' old me!
Their eBay name was e-automart, but surprise surprise they are no longer a registered member, after all the negative feedback started rolling in

Boy, if you hadn't had problems with the speakers out of the box, it might have been tough to detect the fakes. They really are good knockoffs, although the sound has to be different. But if you haven't listened to Dyn's before how would one know?
Wouldn't it be ironic if Dynaudio had outsourced their mobile fidelity production to China recently and a factory down the street ended up producing these fakes?

Jesus tittyfucking christ those are uncanny knockoffs. You would never know! That is totally nuts!
I knew something was weird when you couldn't find Dyns ANYWHERE, and then they all of a sudden sprung up all over eBay.
I wonder what the frequency response is like between the two. Who knows, maybe the knockoffs sound better?

man, I wonder how many fakes were/is sold on ebay.
That sucks!
I also herd that fake Morel's and Focal's are floating around as well
