so this was an ebay "deal"
if so tell him you want money off, return it, or him to fix...or cover the cost of fixing it

If this was the same XS4600 I was looking at a few days ago, it stated in the auction the knob was broken.

this wasnt the one advertised on ebay with the broken knob,i should have bought that one for parts,i have a strange feeling the good old days of pg customer service are over,i called and they have no spare parts to sell for the xs series what a joke, the part number is 50kc10 its a knob for bass adjust for rear channel,i only paid a 100 for the amp,but i wanna use it,my question is,if i hook a lpl to the amp will i need that bass adjust to work,or am i by passing it,

no, the lpl is completely different.
it attenuates the sensitivity from the level you set it at on the amp. the bass knob is merely a eq boost

have you looked or checked about sourcing the pot you need?
try here
http://vimex.com/
see if you see what it looks like and just check the ohm measuremnt- they actually might have it- they supplied PG back in early early days.

i have solved the problem, the pot is ok,the knob is broken and it runs thru the center of the pot,the knob shaft is equivalent to a 5/32 allen wrench,i put one in and have my adjustment, now if i can find some knobs from a xs amp im happy,
