MS - Original v TA

Post by KUB3 »

What's the general consensus on here about the final release of MS amps, under the TA guise? I know some things were changed, (for example, the 2250 TA becoming 2ohm bridged mono capable). But was there anything the original versions did better? Or is this just nostalgia?

The TA amps are actually much better amps since they use modern parts which are more accurate, and far more reliable.

However, no TA amp has the voltage the original MS2250 does, so none of them have the 4 ohm stereo or mono power of that amp. However, power wise the MS2250TA will beat an original MS2250 at 2 ohms mono, as the original MS2250 will likely just shut down.

What models were released for the Tenth Anniversary? I've only seen 2125 and 2250 so far

Do you think there will be a 20th Anniversary? Just dreaming (made in China by SMT robots does not count!)

Those 2 plus the MS1000 were the only Tenth Anniversary released amps.

How does one determine a MS2125TA from a MS2250TA, since there is no badging on the amps?

I know my MS2125ta states it on the end plate. The MS2250ta I have does not state its model. That is the only difference I have with my two sweeties! :hurr: :hurr:

since you can go 2ohms bridged on the TA2250 then could you go 1ohm bridged on the TA2125?

MS2250TAs have 63V rail capacitors. I don't think the MS2125TAs do. (probably 50V).
