I have an Alpine 9856 head unit and a X200.4.I would like to add a TLD22 .Not sure what cables I need or how to hook it up.TLD22 says a 2 channel line driver but it only has 1 left input and 1 right input. And my Alpine has input L & R front, L& R Rear ,and L & R SUB inputs. So how do I go about hooking this up and what do I need to do it. Thanks

two channels = left/right. Use a standard rca cable to go from the front output, to the tld22's input, then another rca to the input on your amp.

For that HU you will need 3 TLD22 ( or PLD1 older line driver) OR try to find a tld66. The 66 would be the best option. It is a 6 channel line driver

Run the front output from the deck to the line driver then to the amp.
Set the input selector to 2ch, and all 4 channels will run off the single RCA run. You can then use an LPL to control the sub volume instead of the sub control on the deck.

x 2 on audiophyle247's instructions. Plain, simple, and effective.

If you're going for simple and you have the X200.4, that's the way to go. The Xenon can do the low-pass/high-pass for you (instead of the HU) and the components have their own xovers so you're good there.
Already been said but I'll be redundant and do it graphically:
Code: Select all
HU--Front/LR---TLD22----------run2back----------Xenon 200.4

Ok so i just plug LPL in and thats it.Here is how RCA'S are hooked up on Alpine (see pic). Was going to change RCA'S output on H/U to sub channel when i add line driver. Will i still have to do this?Right now i have front(components) out puts on H/U to front input on amp and rear out put(Subs) to Rear input on amp.Would this be fine or do i have to change anything.Sorry for noob ? but i am a noob.

No, you will only use one of the RCA cables.
Run a 1.5' RCA cable from the deck's front RCA output to the line driver.
Run 1 of the 2 pre-existing RCA cables from the line driver to the x200.4 front channels. You wont need the second RCA cable when you switch the selector on the amp to 2ch input.
Plug in the LPL & it will magically control just the sub. Okay, maybe its not magic but it could be.

Using the lowpass filter on the subs (required) is what allows the LPL to control them, since you will not be using the lowpass for the fronts the LPL will not affect them at all.
You dont need the rear output or sub output from the deck, and using just the 1 RCA cable will keep the sub & front signals matched because they are both being run from the line driver.

I have to ask since you said you were a newb, do you know how to tune it? If you do not do it right it is easy to burn out an input on an amp by turning it too high.

you should still read the procedure on how to tune it, but you have a good buffer zone on the xenon amps. they will take about 13v rms input voltage before they get angry with you
