Building the shrouded DFAS#1-done-

Post by joerg »

After almost 6 month it´s time to start this now. Some of u might know that a bought a brandnew MS1000TA from macgyver76 just to finally get the sink i was looking for. I sold the boards and all the other parts i didn´t need, to thunderdome. I also bought 2 rough original MS2250 and parted those out. Matt is doing the MS1000 sink and the enplates for me. He also franked the clamp down bars for the transistors for me.

I aslo managed to get a few used and not perfect shrouds. 2 of them will be refurbished and used for the two original and mint MS2250´s i have.
The third one will be cut in two halfs and extented to fit a MS1000 sink.

The sink is hanging in Matt´s spraybooth 8) and is waiting for paint. You can see it on the first pic below. It´s short before he´ll ship it to me.

All the other parts are in austria already.Just take a look on the second pic below. I already replaced all the caps on the boards with new ones (This time i took care of the vias and followed nicos thread). I decided to go with only one control board and one set of fans in the shroud the spare conection on the other board will be used for LED lighting.

I´ll also get a bare plexi from Matt that will be fitted with a nice decal i got custom made in a shop here in austria.

This is the kind of work I like to see! I'm sure I speak for the majority... The shroud is gonna take a skilled tig welder no doubt, I am eager to see the final product but I really like to see the Work that done along the way to making it a reality...so take lots of pics so we can all see the effort put into this 1 off creation!! Good luck!

Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Like with any special amp... no pics can really do it justice; wait till you see it in person, you'll be blown away by it ,I'm sure Joerg!
WAY TO GO MATT; you're the king of powdercoating here!

I know the flake-paint doesn't really show on pics; only when you hold it in bright daylight, or even better direct sunlight, it just GLOWS.... 8) ..very special!
It is important to be carefull when handling gear with this colour; it shows scratches more easily than basic colours; JOERG buy yourself a pair of soft linnen gloves, and remove any rings you may wear, while working on it.....

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT...

grab some nitril gloves or vinyl surgeons gloves when handling...

thats hat i do in shop. I try to make it a "company policy" to not touch the parts with bare hands as soon as i de-grease them, all the way through the entire process until the customer touches them with their own hands.
I would hate to leave like smudges or finger prints on something for someone that they are picking up. AND that is just the same if i am shipping it. I will not touch it with bare hands all the way through process and right into box it's getting shipped in... UNLESS there is some reaon that prevents me from doing so.

BUT you guys are also correct that the pics really do not do it justice... In sun or the proper lighting it sparkles right up with those metal flakes.

there should be better pic's on my other camera,... but camera broke (dropped in by the oven trying to take a pic of stuff haning and keeping door closed ) - but/and cant get pic's off camera/card (no card reader), but did buy a new camera (very same sd1000 by canon) and should be here shortly-

maybe they'll be some better pic's of sink and plates b/c i took those pics in the house i think. we'll see when it comes in and I can get those pics off. BUT yeah you can see some flake in the sink on one of those pic's...

edit- found some more and not sure i sent to you joerg or not.. but maybe the flake will show or does show a lil better with these here:
