Setup ? 3x ZX500s or ZX500 + ZX450?

Post by Pillow »

I am on the fence here people... Help push me one way or another :)

Here are the two options:

1. Three ZX500s. One for the front stage 150x2. One for the rear stage 150x2. And one for the subwoofer 600x1.

2. ZX450 split for the front and rear stages 75x4. And one ZX500 for the subwoofer 600x1.

The components are RSd65cs, which should be able to handle the power either way.

The power supply is great, so no worries on power starvation.

Thanks!!!

How married are you to having a dedicated amp on the rear stage? I would put deck power on the rears and use 2 x ZX500 for the front stage and sub.

i kinda concur^ extra headroom on your battery and alternator.

or if you are going crazy for 3 zx500's....you should at least keep the craziness going and do a fatty dedicated midbass up front

450 bridged to fronts, rears on deck, 500 for sub. What sort of processing were you planning on using? Using the 450/500 combo, you only have to run 1 line back, and using the 450 signal output, you get a perfect exchange between the sub and fronts.

I miss my 500, 500, 450 setup :(

How about 2 ZX450s and 1 ZX500. Run one ZX450 bridged for the front right and rear right, the other ZX450 bridged for the front left and rear left, and then the ZX500 on the subs.

I HIGHLY suggest you don't run any rear speakers at all. If you have enough power to the front, and good speaker placement, adding rears just makes the system sound worse.

For car audio the less cones the better. Less cancellation, less distraction, less needed power, and the best is less cost.

Besides, you can always add rear speakers later if your setup requires them. Then you can use deck power or a small amp or what ever you want.

Phuck it here it is:

... Since one of the ZX500s is dead I had to pull the MMATS D300HC into action... The MMATS is brutal, pulls a serious 50A though!!!

Not a very exciting video though.

Thanks!!!

Eric, normally I never run rear speakers at all... But in the Suburban I figured components in the rear doors would help the backseat passengers enjoy the tunes.

... Then again I could say the hell with 'em! ;)

I did not think of that one. You are right, in a suburban you probably need rear speakers!
