Old PG XS vs RSD Comps

I am looking for some components for the ride. I am looking at either the RSD or a set of old school XS components to go in the kicks run passively. I will either have some 8's or 10's in the door for midbass, prob 8's since I am running 10's in the trunk.

I just scored a pair of NIB xs10's for the trunk to go in a false floor.

SO I am wondering if anybody has owned both sets and can make a comparison?

If I go the RSD route I will use the 5.25" which I dont see any reviews on, only the 6.5, I am assuming they are similar in performance for the mids from the 6.5" and 5.25".

i have! even powered them off the same amp.

the xs are much better in the 200-1000hz region. the tweets are a toss up. the rsds completely destroy the xs in midbass and overall volume.

if you are running dedicated midbasses....the xs are probably the way to go since thats their week point, and you should be able to trunk them much louder if they are crossed over at ~150+

Thanks for the reply, there is a set of the XS on Ebay but the guy wont budge on his price it looks like, or atleast to what I want to spend. I was looking to spend $100 tops for now as this is mostly just a temp setup till I get my fiberglassing of the dash done, which will be several months.

Looks like I might be going the rsd route then, was hoping I could get those XS

the rsd really are a good speaker too. if you can eq out the 200hz hole. they are actually great

Well with the midbass I was planning on crossing over in the 250-350hz range. I have a eclipse deck with all sorts of DSP built in it. Graphic or parametric eq, time alignment and crossovers with variable slope. The midbass will be down and forwards in the door towards the kicks, maybe 12-15" center to center.

The RSD 5.25" set I can get for $63 shipped it looks like, I wonder when the new TI speakers would be coming out as they have the phase plug for better off axis distribution.

I love the RSD series of components and run them in my system and couldn't be happier. It will be fun to see how the new TIs actually fair out 8)

If you do not mind a little mix and match I can hook you up.

MB Q tweets with RSd 6.5 mids and a MB or RSd crossover

or

Cadence tweets with RSd 6.5 mids and MB or RSd or Cadence crossover.

or if you need 5.25 I have some really nice AVI mids. Then couple them with either the MB tweets or I have an old school set of silk DEI tweets BNIB... That would be a more expensive setup though, kinda saving this for the 911 build.

The cadence tweets are not that bad! Very similar to the RSd tweets really. Both silk and about the same input power level.

The MB Q tweets are the typical titanium dome and they will scream on the highs. Some people like that, some don't.

I need a week though as some of this is still in the mail to me.

Also I am on the lookout for old a/d/s/ 336is crossovers if you wanna trade.
