PG rival amps?

I once had a DLS in an instal of mine. It was pretty clear sounding but rather cold and clinical compared to the warmer more fluid sounding Phoenix Gold I was used to. So what other amps have you guys heard that you rate as sounding as pleasing as PG's old school offerings?
I am guessing people might suggest the usual suspects of Genesis, McIntosh, Tru, Sinfoni, Brax etc. But I haven't done an A/B comparison in the same setup, so I can't comment. Just interested in your views generally

you want to swap a DLS amp for a ryval? I would consider it the equivilant of trading your volvo for yugo........

I think he's asking what amps rival PG's classic old school sound quality, not anything about the Ryval amp line.

I know I have used ms275,mps2500,all the m amps, zx/ti amp and I found that the focal FP amps I own are warmer IMO. they don't color anything just good clean power
Im not saying that PG is bad at all I just found the sound better
but I tried my amp with focal speaker so that might make the differnce?
I did read a review for the tru c7 4 channel and I didn't like the review
Im sure its a great amp but they didn't help tru in the review

the sad part is I might sell my fp475, and fp800.1 x2 as funds are starting to come up short and last year at work Im not getting the bonus im used to ..oh ya and the kid in June

That's very interesting to hear. It would make sense to have a softer sounding amp when used with metal tweeters I guess.
Any other comparisons guys?

That's an unusual material for tweeters. My mids and mid-bass are made of similar stuff.
I was thinking maybe focal made those softer sounding amps to go with their metal domed tweeters, like the utopia etc.

what DLS amp are you refering to in your first post? I am kinda a DLS fanboy and I am curious, as I now have some DLS Reference amps and use to run the A series which were the A7 A4's and A3
I would take a DLS over Genesis anyday of the week, I know several people who feel the same way, and we have used them both

A5 Ultimate I think. The 3 channel one.
What exactly did you like about the sound of it so much over a Genny?

If you didnt like the DLS you wont like the Genesis, they seem to be less detailed than the DLS, I noticed it in the highs alot. I would say the Genesis is streile

I've heard people describe sinfoni as sounding rather warm before. I guess they may be more similar to old PG than many amps out there

I've only just realized PG made a new range called Ryval. No one this thread is half dead and caused confusion

it was really the overproduced-red-headed-identical-quintuplet-step child of pgs offspring, with a gothic cross tattood on it.......

To be honest I have ignored everything PG made after ZX/Ti. It's another company as far as I'm concerned, so have no interest in knowing about it

I am not sure how many of the red-headed-rival- quads are left on ebay anymore so you might have a point. I can't imagine too many of them being pulled from the system working..... At one time there were 2 billion ryval adds on there but thankfully they are only sold once.
