Good, solid amps. Aside from the 1200.1 which has a delicate tripath amp, they seem like they would last forever.

Do a search for "tripath" on the phorum, plenty of good threads.

maybe I,m wrong but I think this chip was designed by the Carver boys and is solid unless you load it down to much IE 1 ohm loads at least thats what I was told elseways there pretty stable from what I remember

Tripath is from Tripath...

I find they break more often from environmental issues than heavy usage. Usually its vibration and heat that kills them in my experience. Mine always got ruined in shipping

Ive always kinda fancied the tantrum line. I haven't ran much of the gear , always liked the design.
Mike if your question is on how to ship a larger Tantrum amp to avoid damage to the chip , Id recommend having it wrapped in shipping paper , then bubble wrapped and stuff the rest of the box with packing pillows

or at least thats how I ship amps.
USPS =More gentle with packages (they dont have to deal with truckloads of packages , so more care is taken)
Fed Ex= Usually has a good track record , can be rough with packages.
UPS=Ive had so many damaged goods and open boxes with missing gear I dont use them but who knows maybe the drivers around here for the past 15 years hate me
