help pg ti 600.2 pot problem

help i got a phoenix gold ti 600.2 and i get like a feed back out of the subs i believe the frequancy knob is to blame any help on how to fix would be great

When you take the RCAs out, do the subs still make that noise?

yes it does if i stick a metal shim in the knob it goes away

Hopefully one/some of the guys that repair amps see this thread. But the phorum is a little slow on the weekends, so you might have to wait until Monday.

The pots oxidize over time so it's a good idea to just turn them up and down a bunch to clear them up a bit. Usually they work just fine after that but in extreme cases the pot needs to be replaced as well.

were can i find these pots i took it all apart and the knob has like 8 diff pots behind it for cleaning can i spray something that will help it faster???? like spray turn spray turn clean up?/???

pot means potentiometer. it IS the knob. are you trying to clean the solider joints behind it?

if the static is caused by the dirty pot. turning it back and fourth, end to end a few times should clear it. (while the amp is off of course) its worth doing to all the knobs. if that doesn't fix it then we will have to keep brainstorming

Unless the internals of the POT are just shot... then the POT would need to be replaced. Not hard to do, but sourcing the parts is going to be the hardest. I have never done amp repair, but dont you guys in the know have a common place that you go to get caps and the like?

yes i know what pot means i know they can oxidize i have a fair share of electrical skills just finding the parts is what im having trouble with i mean i can solder then on my self im twisting the knobs as we speak but until i can install it id like to find a place i can get enough pots for the freq knob seeing as there are 8 pots and not know which one is bad just wanna do the whole thing on that knob it is the only one causing me grief i mean i got the amp for free and i loved the sound of it before i have installed this very amp into many many vehicles and love it so i would like to fix it
