Ti 1000.2 or Ti1200.1 for sub duty

...at 3 ohms would the 1000.2 not be a
comporable, if not better, choice since it
puts out 1000 wrms at 4 ohms?

has anyone tried these two amps on the
same sub setup?

I had my 1000.2 at 2 ohm for a little bit, and it didnt seem to mind much. Never went into protect, and it kept pushing my subs to their limits. Also, my birthsheet was 1192 watts at 4 ohm, so expect more than 'just' 1000 watts. I wouldnt have any problem running either amp for sub duty.

I also blew a pair of Alpine Type-S woofers with my Ti1200.1 at 4 ohms, with the gains turned all the way down, when I first tested it. That amp was mercilessly loud... I would be surprised if it was more than a hundred or two watts off of the 1000.2 at that impedance.

Thanks for the info. Which amp would likely be stronger at 3 ohms?

I would think the Ti1200.1 as it puts out full "optimal" output at 2 ohms.

Depends on your definition of stronger... Stronger as in more watts, probably the 1000.2. Stronger as in not as stressed, ergo more reliable and more headroom, definitely the 1200.1.

I would probably say get whatever you can. Both would be a good fit.

^how bout a 3 ohm mono load on a bridged 1000.2

That's close enough to 2 ohms and 4 ohms to not matter. Remember speakers are rated by "nominal" impedance. Their impedance actually varies greatly depending on frequency, and PG's amps are overbuilt, so they can handle it no problem.

Which would have more headroom? The 1000.2 at 3 ohms or the 1200.1 at 1.5 ohms?

Pretty much the same. Hard to say... headroom is tough to quantify.

The 1200.1 would probably be louder though...
