well as some may know my Octane LE went up in smoke yesterday so I ripped it apart last night and got the board out removed caps looks not to bad but did pop out a few tru holes and one of the pads is half off due to something I never thought I,d find a cap with waaaaay to much solder under it? I,m surprised it even worked? but I,ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking hopefully I can get some caps and get this back together shortly

weird
do you know the size and volt of the caps?
other than time and a little money she will be like new
Im going to also send the speaker terminal with the speaker wire for you troubles
sorry again I know its not my fault i just hate selling something and it fail shortly after
but for amps this is a first for me
thay why i gave you one hell of a deal on the wire and terminal
Im sure the boys can find the right caps for you
it was just cool to see a octane with the blues caps not the black
maybe the blue caps were old stock and thats why they failed???

you might be right about that theory

they are just standard 15000mfd 35v 35mm x35mm like they use in the ms amps

Quite pricey, those rail caps...
Thank god your board looks ok though!
It's odd, the rail caps rarely fail. I think thats why PG built the Octane with a rail cap bank. They probably learned their lesson with the small, more failure prone, power supply caps in the 10F Powergrid and 20F Powercore. So by comparison the Octanes should almost never fail... it seems yours may have been a manufacturing defect.

Thanks for the support guys and the link stipud

that should make it easier It must be my turn to get lucky with the odds eh but not all bad got me busy in the driveway this morning putting some bad boys in for a while anyway I know its not PG but you must admit they sure are sexy together comp on subs and reference on front end and gains all the way down
and I know its kinda messy but I,ve had 4 sets of amps in here this month so I havn,t finalized the covers till I pick a set up

if you get a discount on them in bulk let me know and I will get a set with you and do mine as well. I also need to replace my fans as they are making noise, can you get a model number off of yours so that I can get a set of those as well?

put me down for a set when you order and I will paypal the money to you including shipping. Looks like I need to move it up on the priority list or pray to get as lucky as you did.
If anyone has a source on those fans with a link it would be greatly appreciated.....

Just like the Xenon's, if they would have been made in USA then they wouldn't have had a manufacturing defect...
Oh wait...

sarcasm isn't nearly as funny, when I am not using it

................
yea a bad cap, the whole LE line must be crap now! Hell that means every LE line is crap now right?

This MUST mean that EVERY amp made in the us is crap now!
I withdraw all my comments about the quality of the offshore amps being a lesser quality then the made in the USA amps politely apologize and beg for everyones forgiveness.
See now those are two perfect examples of sarcasm, but in reality I know that the cap that blew was made in china and done on purpose to take the amp out and make the entire "made in the USA" thing look bad 12 yrs after it was made.

That's why I love this phorum. You can make sarcastic comments and critique others and it doesn't turn into a pissing war like other car audio forums out there.

I am just happy as long as my fords are not a bastardized rx8 that had a big old 350 shoved up in 'er. Your rx was a porno it would be some kind of Asain virgin meets johm holms........
This is a fun place huh? I talk crap about that thing but I sure as hell would not want to race it. Can you get a vid of it starting? I just think it would be funny to hear that little thing roar....

hehe, we are polar opposites....i only buy mazda's that havnt been bastardized by ford parts...
your fords should prey nightly to the car gods to handle like a rx8

unfortunately the rx-7 has a ford rear-end

only good thing they ever built JMOA the chev power train was out of necessity...I needed 400 horses to have fun

still handles awsome though as the rearend and the stereo balance out the bigger motor for a 50/50 ratio
