basscubes and amp frequency boost??
...if adding a basscube to an existing system, is there a
RULE for adjusting the "bass" on the amp?
I am currently running a 12" sub in a ported box off a
Ti 600.2. Can I use the gain for bass on the amp in conjunction
with the basscube or would using both cancel, or even cause damage,
to the sub?

Thanks, Thunderdome. I found both links very helpful but did not see anything specific regarding the freq boost from an amp. I likely overlooked it before asking for help.Thunderdome wrote:just read the manual and if you still have questions, ask away, first follow linky secret stuff is the real deal though![]()

makes enough sense to me. Thanks!ttocs wrote:it can help or it or add up to a huge distortion button if you use it in conjuction with a loudness switch, bass turned all the way and gains maxed out.
I read that boosting various frequencies simultaneously
is a no-no and the Ti600 freq boost is, I believe, at 45Hz
while the freq boost of the basscube, ofcourse, is adjustable.
This gives me enough confidence to get started and the rest will come.

Right, the amp has fixed boost at 45Hz with wide Q (range of frequencies affected), while the basscube has a variable frequency and variable Q. So essentially the basscube is a 1-band parametric equalizer.
If you overlap the bass boosts you will quickly destroy your amp. Bass boost is the devil, especially if not controlled with modesty and maturity. It adds distortion to your signal, and forces some notes into clipping.
Every 3dB of boost is asking the amplifier to produce TWICE the power at each frequency. Now imagine what happens if you crank both up to 12
. Your amp will be playing square waves pretty much...
