ok i have three rsd 10s and my box does not have enough air space does anyone know how big my box would need to be i want to get the most out of them i have them wired down to 1.33 ohms i was trying to get as close to 1 ohm as possible i dont even know why but i was told the lower the ohm the louder it would be any help would be grateful thanks guys

what kind of amp do use have now? how big is your current box? i did not think the rsd10s needed a big box.

1st off, lower ohm doesn't mean louder.
amps are rated to make power at various ohm loads, and typically the lower the ohm load, the more power a amp makes. amps are also only rated to go down to a certain ohm load also.
nothing is free however, the lower the ohm load the more heat a amp makes, the currant the amp draws from your battery. the amp is working harder, so the "dampening factor" goes down also. which is the amps ability to "control" the sub. some amps are built for this, some arent
so amps aren't "louder" at lower ohms, they just make more power
a good analogy is to think about amps like a motor. the higher the rpm (ohm) the more power (and heat) the motor will make. of course it is also harder on the motor and it makes less torque (dampening factor)
so what amp do you have? maybe it can handle 1ohm...maybe it can't
as far a boxes go, rsd 10's are happiest right about .7cf (total) sealed.

just saw the newer posts, do you have the manual for it? if the amp really makes 2500 watts, you are going to kill your rsd10's!

here's a volume calculator to figure out how much airspace your box is

i think thats a sound storm amp correct. even though i doubt it puts out 2500 watts it still should be able to run 3 10s. check your wiring on the subs you may have one out of phase. that would cut output and make it sound bad.

what size fuse is on the side of the amp? That will give a better idea of what that amp really puts out.

the amp is not the prob but it is a Soundstorm Laboratories 1FD2500 2500W Force Class D Monoblock Power Amplifier i do not have the manual it has 3 30w fuses but i need info about the type of box i should use if i can have someone make me one

i got the amp because it is one ohm stable and i have my subs ran down to 1.33 ohms so the amp is fine but i think the box needs more air space

it is hard for us to agree or not since we do not know how much space is in the box.

ok well i am going to add a port hole to my box on monbay if this does not work i will some how figure out how much air space is in my box and i will get back thanks for everything u guys have told me

they require a even bigger box ported. porting a box is not as simple as adding a port. you need to know the size of the box to properly port a box.

yeah, you can't just "add a port hole" ported boxes are bigger then the sealed counterparts, so if you are worried your box is already too small, adding a hole wont help anything
ports are speaker and frequency specific
the recommended ported box for that speaker is 2cf, with a 2inch wide by 7inch port (for each 10)

as they said a port is a tuned piece of pipe that needs to be a certain length, and a certian width across to get the correct amount of air to move.
again it would really help us to help you if you could get some measurements of the box, a pic or anything other then a description it is too small.

have you used a 3 inch port on these b4 fowler?im going to be powering mine with an M25 and i have the dual 4 version.Reason i ask is i have a bunch of 3 inch in the garage to use, 2cf seems huge for a 10, ohwell ive got the space and the lumber

three inch should work fine, you just have to make the ports longer to compensate for that. there is a good port calculator floating around somewhere

Yup I know meng I just wanted to make sure the port wouldnt be too wide, thanks
Ive just measured my box internally (its an old one I have kickin round) and its gonna be a hair over 2 cubic feet with port and driver displacement

I just have to put a new face on it (it was for 2-12s) and cut the hole for the port and......

Im going with a 3inch port at 5.4 inches long, that will be tuned to 35hz
