ok...i'm getting some ideas together for my new trunk installation. my idea is...to build a unit where the subs are firing downward and i would lift them high enough that amp could be mounted under them at an angle that would display the amp.
the way the whole thing would be designed, one would not see the subs at all, but i love the look of the xenon 600.1 and feel it needs to be displayed.
my question is...would the subs firing down on the amp cause any problems???
hope u guys don't get tired of my questions, but i really enjoy this forum because of the knowledge & feedback that's available. i have learned a great deal more than i ever knew since being a member.

Installing the amp on the sub box usually isn't the most optimal of locations because of the vibrations. I can only imagine that the subs firing directly on the amp itself may cause even more vibrations.
It will be ok, but if I were you, I would look to choose another mounting location. Why chance it?!

the last two installs i've had that amp involved in...one the amp was sunk into the top of the enclosure...
and the current set up that has it on a board that's attached to the backside of the enclosure...
i've been running this amp now, for about 4 years now with no issues. i was just wondering if the subs firing down on them would create an environment that's any worse for the amp.

Hell no! i have run more systems with down firing boxes then not (just sorta worked out that way)
i think they sound better then normal boxes oddly enough.
ran a system just like that in my extended s10. 2 12's firing down onto my amps in a giant box that went all the way across the cab (no pics....this was before i had a digital camera)the subs were about 6 inches off the floor, and the amps were on a rack that could slide front to back when i had to make adjustments
i was awesome becasue it hid everything until i moved my seats forward, made it almost imposable to steal becasue you couldn't take anything out without removing the seats, and you could still throw anything you wanted in the cab on top of the box and not worry about it hitting gear
so what i'm saying is....not only will it be ok firing your subs down, i recommend it!

thanks man, i didn't think it would be an issue....just wanted to confirm it. i'm gonna try to start building the enclosure this weekend (if i can find some time). of course i'll take pics of my progress & post as i work to completion.
of course, i hafta figure out logistics of installing the cap in a way that it's still close to the amp, but i don't want it to be part of the "display"...maybe off to one side where it can't be seen. Definitely gotta throw some blue LED's to shine down on the amp.
the thing i love about the 600.1 is the controls are in such a great place for making adjustments. if i set it up right, it can be in a fixed position under the subs as long as the there's enough space.
heck, i may even do this with my xenon subs and take advantage of the blue LED's in those (i've never had 'em lit up in all these years). LOL
the very reason i want to change my install is i throw my football gear back there all the time, i also thow my home improvement tools back there as well. i'm tired of having to worry about how i put everything i there. LOL
